Justice Basirat Adebowale of Ogun State High Court, Abeokuta has ruled that 3 guys, who connived together to kill a couple, Kehinde and Bukola Fatinoye and their only son, Oreoluwa Fatinoye in Abeokuta on January 1, 2023, should get executed by hanging.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Justice Basirat Adebowale delivered her ruling on Monday, and she said:
‘The trio of Adekanbi, Odetola, and Adeniyi are guilty of nine counts because the prosecution has proved its case beyond reasonable doubt..
You, Adekanbi, Odetola, and Adeniyi, for killing a father, mother, and son, do not deserve mercy. You are hereby sentenced to be hanged by the neck until you are dead or by lethal injection. May God have mercy on your souls’.
The judge also ruled that Temitope Fadairo , who is Adekanbi’s wife, will spend two years behind bars for trying to make her husband escape punishment , Adenike Adekanbi, who is Adekanbi’s mother, got one-year sentence for providing false statements to the police, Azeez Usman (the welder who dismantled the stolen vehicle) was given 14 year-sentence for receiving stolen property while additional sentences will run concurrently, Anuoluwapo Owolaja will spend two years behind bars while Abass Odetola and Lukmon Adewusi were acquitted of all charges.
Recall that arson had been suspected in the early morning house fire that had claimed the lives of Kehinde and Bukola Fatinoye in Abeokuta, Ogun state capital, on January 1, 2023 .
Bukola , a staff of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) and Kehinde, a CBN official, had returned to their residence in Ibara GRA, Abeokuta after attending the Cross over Service oblivious of the sword of Damocles hanging over their head..
Fishermen also found the decomposing body of their son, Oreoluwa floating two days later.
Adekanbi and the two other suspects had trailed the couple from the church where they had gone to attend the crossover service and after killing them, they set their corpses and the house ablaze.
A few days after the incident, the police arrested Lekan Adekanbi and said he was the prime suspect in the murder case.
The family’s adopted son, Felix , who had escaped death, had also identified Adekanbi as one of those who attacked and killed the couple when he was invited by the police to identify the corpse of Oreoluwa at the riverbank.
Adekanbi, who was said to be Mr Fatinoye’s driver , later escaped from the police custody, he was however declared wanted and rearrested.
He later told journalists that he decided to kill the couple because they had refused to grant his request for a pay raise.
‘I took the step because the couple refused to increase my salary, and when I approached them for a loan to buy a motorcycle, they were not forthcoming.
Since all these failed, I gave the deceased man my Access Bank account to which the sum of N1,102,000 (One million one hundred and two thousand naira ) was transferred at gunpoint.
When I realized that my identity had been known through my bank account, I decided with others to kill the couple. That was when Waheed Adeniyi a.k.a Koffi took a knife from their kitchen and slaughtered the husband, Kehinde Fatinoye, while I used sledgehammer to hit the wife, Bukola Fatinoye, in the head and she died on the spot’ he had said-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
