3,000 Women Receive Food Items, Cash Assistance From Kebbi Governor’s Wives In Zuru
Hajiya Zainab Nasare and Hajiya Nafisa ,who are the wives of Kebbi state governor, Dr Nasir Idris, the Kauran Gwandu, have jointly presented grains and cash assistance to 3,000 women in the four Local Governments in Zuru Emirate; Zuru, Fakai, Danko/ Wasagu and Sakaba.
This was jointly done through their foundations; NASARA Foundation (Hajiya Nasare) and the NANAS Foundation (Hajiya Nafisa).
Distributing the items to the beneficiaries at the Zuru town Hall, Zuru, Kebbi state on Saturday, they thanked the Zuru women for their support for the Nasir Idris administration.
Hajiya Nasare Nasir Idris submitted that the sum of 30 million naira would be disbursed to the women to support their families while urging the beneficiaries to use the Blessed Month of Ramadan to pray for the state and the country for sustenance of peace, unity and prosperity.
Also speaking, Hajiya, Dr. Nafisa Nasir Idris Kauran Kwandu remarked that the provision of food items and cash assistance for the women is aimed at easing things for them and bringing succour to those observing the Ramadan fast.
Dr. Nafisa also promised that her foundation would sustain empowerment programme for women which is already ongoing in all parts of Kebbi state for self- reliance through gainful ventures.
Kebbi state APC Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Kana Zuru said the ruling APC government would enhance the welfare of all communities through delivery of the dividends of democracy.
In his welcome address, the Sole administrator of Zuru Local Government, who spoke on behalf of the Sole administrators of the four Local Governments in Zuru Emirate, Alhaji Isa Bala Gajere, commended Governor Nasir Idris for his fatherly care to the people of the Emirate and other sections of the state.
He extended similar appreciation to Hajiya Nasare and Hajiya Nafisa for their benevolence and compassion by providing food items for the women.
Lectures were delivered by Mallam Yusuf Ribah and Mallam Abubakar Ribah on the importance of feeding people in the month of Ramadan during the event
The Kebbi governor’s wives also visited Zuru Army Barracks where they provided foodstuffs, wrappers and cash to widows of fallen heroes as well as the Zuru Orphanage where they made similar donations to the children.
At the Palace of the Emir of Zuru, they informed the monarch that they were there to seek for his Royal Blessings for the success of the scheme.
In response, the Emir of Zuru, retired General Muhammadu Sani Sami, Gomo ii, commended them for their initiative to support women in the state especially in this holy Month of Ramadan.
The elated Emir later announced his decision to honour them with traditional titles.
Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris was honoured with Jagaban Matan Zuru while Hajiya, Dr. Nafisa Nasir Idris got the chieftaincy title of Aminiyar Matan Zuru, in recognition of their service to humanity.
