Cash Transfer Programme: President Tinubu Rethinks Decision To Make N8,000 Available To 12m Poor Households

The Presidency disclosed on Tuesday that President Bola Tinubu would be rethinking his administration’s decision to make cash transfers available to poor households in the country.
The president had announced his administration’s decision to do this sequel to the removal of subsidy and its concomitant hardships.
The Federal Government had announced plans to make monthly cash transfer of N8,000 each available to 12 million poor households for six months.
This had however been heavily criticized with the organized labour saying it was not the level of intervention required to ease the pains of vulnerable Nigerians.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the new development was disclosed in a statement issued in Abuja by the president’s Special Adviser on Special Duties, Communications and Strategy, Mr. Dele Alake.
‘The President has directed that the N8,000 conditional cash transfer programme envisaged to bring succour to most vulnerable households be reviewed immediately’ the statement said.
Alake added that the new directive ‘is in deference to the views expressed by Nigerians against the programme’ .
The president has according to him directed that the whole gamut of the ‘support plan’ put in place by the government should be made known to Nigerians while ordering the immediate release of fertilizers and grains to approximately 50 million farmers and households respectively in all the 36 states and the FCT- Team@orientactualmags.com
