Senator Lere Oyewumi Celebrates 64th Birthday With ‘Worthy Cause’… Sponsors Constituents For Capacity Building Training… Provides N15m As Startup Capital

Deputy Minority Leader of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Kamorudeen Lere Oyewumi, PhD, reconfirmed his commitment to uplifting the poor and making  his constituents self-sufficient on Friday.

Oyewumi ,who was  born  on January 5 , 1960,  turned 64 on Friday, January 5, 2024, and he has considered it important to put a smile on people’s faces.

The senator, who represents Osun West in the senate,   inaugurated road projects in Iwo and also distributed vocational tools and other items to hundreds of his constituents.   Team@orientactualmags.com reports that sewing machines, wheelchairs and other items were distributed to some among his constituents during the event that was held at Iwo town hall while he also provided over 15 million naira as startup capital for those who attended the capacity building training programme that was held a few days earlier. 

The empowerment programme was in furtherance of his commitment to ensuring an effective, purposeful and qualitative representation .

 The empowerment schemes are; Training And Empowerment Of Youth And Women In Mining Of Solid Minerals, Distribution Of Strategic Empowerment Programme anchored by Mining Cadastre Office and the Small And Medium Enterprise Development Agency (SMEDAN) respectively.

The federal  lawmaker had  earlier visited the Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, at his palace where he commended the prominent traditional ruler for his commitment to national peace and community development.

 “We are here to show our appreciation for your wonderful leadership in Iwo and commitment to national stability. You are a father-figure to us and we are proud of the support you have given the current administration in the state and the National Assembly members’ he  noted.

Inaugurating  the two roads  at Oriolowo/Agbele Compound and Adediti/Paku in Iwo, the Oluwo of Iwoland submitted that he was overwhelmed by the sterling performance of Senator Oyewumi and encouraged him to continue to work hard to foster development that would serve the interest of his constituents.

While addressing the gathering, Akogun Lere Oyewumi noted that ‘the aim of empowering our people is borne out of the dire state of the economy and the attendant economic hardships and the need for the people to be self-sufficient  without recourse to begging or waiting on the government and political office holders for handouts’.

‘ It is also to make our people become self-sufficient and self-reliant and encourage productivity which will contribute to the growth of National Gross Domestic Products while this will also result in development both in capital and human resources’ he added.

Senator Lere Oyewumi also restated his commitment to doing more for the Osun west senatorial district people with respect to his electoral promises through a purposeful representation, while ensuring that all segments of the senatorial district are well represented with regard to the provision of life-enriching interventions and policies that would make life more prosperous and abundant for his constituents.

The Deputy Governor of Osun state, Prince Kola Adewusi, who saluted the doggedness of  Senator Oyewumi for ensuring that his people enjoy good governance that the PDP stands for, urged the people of Osun state not to waver in their support for the Governor Ademola Adeleke administration which is committed to improving their welfare and social support scheme.

A member of the House of Representatives,  Hon. Mudashir L&K , who represents Iwo/Ayedire/Ola Oluwa Federal Constituency, equally commended Senator Lere Oyewumi for the empowerment programme, his personal contribution and sacrifice geared towards fulfilling his electoral promise of putting the people first and for complementing efforts of the state government and the National Assembly members in providing timely and adequate support for the people-Team@orientactualmags.com
