N75,000 New Minimum Wage: NULGE, NUT, MHWU Urge Gov Idris To Extend Implementation Deadline

Following extensive consultations, three unions representing local government workers in Kebbi State;  the NULGE, NUT, and MHWU have jointly  urged Governor Nasir Idris, the  Kauran Gwandu to extend the deadline for the implementation of the N75,000  new minimum wage by two weeks  to allow them  compile the list of their members . 

‘This request is to ensure that all members are accurately captured in the payroll exercise and minimize potential human errors’, Comrade Faruk Abubakar Sadiq, the Kebbi State Chairman of NULGE, submitted in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Friday.

The statement noted that Faruk said this during the press conference he presided over at the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Birni Kebbi on Friday. 

He emphasized the need for extension of the 72-hour deadline in order to finalize the compilation, saying,  ‘in the light of the situation, we respectfully appeal to His Excellency to consider extending the timeframe for this exercise by no less than two weeks’.

‘ Additionally, we request the immediate release of October salary to mitigate any financial hardship for our members’ he added.

The union representatives expressed their profound gratitude to Governor Nasir Idris, the  Kauran Gwandu, for his proactive and commendable decision to implement the new national minimum wage of N75,000, positioning Kebbi State as a leader in Nigeria in respect of such matters.

Similarly, the Chairman of Birnin Kebbi Local Government , who is the  state ALGON Chairman, echoed the call for an extension to allow them generate  a comprehensive list of all local government employees.

 He commended Governor Idris for his pioneering action in advancing the welfare of Kebbi State workers.
