Police Misconduct: DPO Ganiyu Dauda Ordered To Stay Away From  Igbara-Oke Division As Investigation Gets Underway

The Divisional Police Officer in charge of Igbara-Oke Division, Ondo State, Mr Ganiyu Dauda, has been ordered to stay away from the town at least for now.

Dauda was accused of engaging in inappropriate conduct and illegal actions by residents of the town .

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that  spokesman for Ondo State police command, DSP Olushola Ayanlade disclosed in a statement he issued in Akure on Sunday that the DPO in question was redeployed by the Commissioner of Police , Wilfred Afolabi following allegations of extortion leveled against him by residents of the community.

Recall that residents of Igbara-Oke, Ifedore Local Government, had on Friday protested against alleged extortion by the DPO.

In a viral video, Dauda was publicly accused of extortion by the aggrieved protesters during a heated altercation.

‘In response to the video and the serious nature of the allegations, the Commissioner of Police, Wilfred Afolabi, has ordered an immediate and thorough investigation into the incident.

The investigation is to determine the circumstances surrounding the confrontation and to uphold the integrity of the Nigeria Police Force.

Preliminary findings indicate that the incident stemmed from a disagreement between the DPO and certain members of the local community.

The matter has since been amicably resolved following the timely intervention of the Ifedore Local Government Chairman, who facilitated dialogue and de-escalation between the parties involved.

In line with internal protocols and to ensure impartiality in the ongoing investigation, the DPO has been redeployed from Igbara-Oke Division pending the outcome of the inquiry’ the statement said.

The spokesman restated the command’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and community trust, while urging members of the public to remain calm as investigation continues–Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
