Otedola Calls Obafemi Hamzat ‘Incoming Governor Of Lagos State’, Says He Was His Bunkmate 49 Years Ago
Prominent businessman, Mr Femi Otedola has openly endorsed Lagos State Deputy Governor, Mr Obafemi Hamzat for the state’s top political job, calling him the ‘incoming governor of Lagos State’.
The public show of support came after Otedola hosted a private dinner in Hamzat’s honour at his Lagos residence.
Taking to his official X account on Monday, October 19, 2026, the prominent industrialist disclosed their deep-rooted relationship, recalling that they shared a bunk bed at boarding school 49 years ago while attending Olivet Baptist High School, Oyo.
‘Yesterday, I hosted dinner in honour of @DrObafemiHamzat, the incoming Governor of Lagos State.
A man of the highest integrity, with whom I shared a bunk bed at boarding school 49 years ago. My experience of his character over the years has been defined by his honesty, sincerity, fairness and strong moral principles’ he wrote.
The exclusive gathering was a convergence of corporate heavyweights, with Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, and chairman of BUA Group, Alhaji Abdulsamad Rabiu among the prominent business titans in attendance.
Mr Hamzat, who has served as Deputy Governor of Lagos State since May 2019, is the Lagos State APC gubernatorial candidate.
