Wike To Edo Gov: Don’t Get Distracted, Rethink Decision To Probe Obaseki Administration
FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike, has urged Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State to rethink the decision to probe the Godwin Obaseki administration emphasizing the need for him to devote total attention to the task ahead.
Recall that Governor Okpebholo had disclosed last Friday that his administration will set up a commission of inquiry to look into the decisions and actions of his immediate predecessor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki while serving as Chief Executive of the state.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Mr Nyesom Wike, who spoke in Benincity on Sunday evening, however submitted that probing Obaseki would yield no meaningful results and could distract the governor from the task of governance.
‘If there is someone who should have encouraged Okpebholo to probe and prosecute Obaseki, that person should be me, but what I suffered in ensuring that he returned for a second term and how he paid me back is now in the past.
We must pass through this process in life, move on for the development of Edo State. Don’t do it, I’m the one who should have told you to pursue this man, I know what I’ve gone through’ a statement issued by Wike’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Mr Lere Olayinka on Monday quoted the minister as saying.

Lamenting that Obaseki was unfair to him, the FCT minister however said personal grievances should not cloud the mission of governance.
‘I should be the one to say prosecute Obaseki, but what is it in life when God has given you a position? If it were to be his power, you won’t be here, but God has told him, you don’t have it, and I have given it to whom I want to give’ he said.
Wike also once again, apologized to Senator Adams Oshiomhole for the role he played in making Obaseki get re-elected in 2020.
‘Leader, I know how pained you are and what you passed through, I know the sufferings you suffered, and it was like a humiliation to you. I was part of it because I humiliated you.
I apologised on national TV to you, sorry for what I did to you, leave it and let them carry their wahala and go, focus on the development of Edo, and you will see what you will achieve at the end of the day’ he added.
Barrister Nyesom Wike was in Benincity, Edo State capital to inaugurate the New Edo Line Terminal, the second phase of the Edo State Benin Central Bus Terminal but the event was however cancelled sequel to the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
