Kebbi State governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, the Kauran Gwandu has restated his commitment to repositioning the Land of Equity’s education sector cognizant that education is the bedrock of development.
‘That is why I have never relented in doing everything humanly possible to change the hitherto negative narratives about education in the state.
This is due to the indisputable fact that education holds the pungent keys to our development just like on other climes’ the Kauran Gwandu submitted.
A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yahaya Sarki noted that he said this in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday during the visit of NANS officials to the Government House, Birnin Kebbi.

The NANS leaders led by the National President, Mr. Olusola Oladoja are in the state to witness the inauguration of New Executive of the National Union of Kebbi State Students (NUKESS).
President Bola Tinubu’s SSA on Student Engagement, Mr.Asefor Sunday Dayo is also in the state for the same purpose.
According to the governor, the visit is historic as it portends a lot of glad tidings for the educational development of Kebbi State and Nigeria in general.
He added that in accordance with his campaign promises, his administration has executed a myriad of developmental projects, cutting across all sectors of the economy of the state.
Dr. Idris added that in just two years, the State Government has rehabilitated and furnished over 2,000 primary and second schools across the state.
According to the Kauran Gwandu, 346 new school structures were constructed while the government has also provided free education at all levels.
He noted that this kind gesture is to mitigate the burden on parents in view of the upsurge of school fees by many tertiary institutions.
He recalled that he had in 2024 approved a whopping N2.7billon for the payment of scholarship to students at higher institutions both at home and abroad.
‘I believe in our youths and students generally and I believe in their leadership capabilities. We hold them in high esteem’ he said.
Dr. Idris further noted that the education sector in the state and students have never had it so good like it had been under the APC-led administration that he is piloting.
He added that was the reason for increasing the monthly cost of the feeding of secondary school students from N175milion to N300 million.
He also commended President Bola Tinubu for coming up with the student loan scheme, saying that no president of the country has ever achieved such a marvelous feat.
The Kauran Gwandu also applauded the President for initiating several other projects and viable programmes that are having direct impact on the lives of Nigerians.
He also praised him for undertaking a number of developmental strides including the historic Sokoto to Badagry Superhighway, out which Kebbi State boasts of over 258 Kms.
Also speaking, Mr Asefor Sunday acknowledged the extant robust relationship between Kebbi State and the Federal Government adding that Kebbi State is undergoing an educational revolution second to none across the country.
Asefor also noted that by ensuring free education, Dr. Idris is solidifying the future of the youths and insuring their lives.
He also praised the massive renovation and construction of schools across the state, as well as efforts by Dr. Nasir to improve food production and guarantee food security.
The governor’s SA on Student Affairs, Comrade Muhammad Muhammad Majo, acknowledged the massive support he has given to the education sector in the last two years.
Majo added that the current administration in the state has recorded giant strides in the education and other sectors, saying that the governor is never relenting.
Majo also said no administration in the state has ever paid 100 per cent of scholarship awards to students like the incumbent governor has done and sustained.
The NANS National President, Comrade Olusola Oladoja noted that Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states command high premium in the activities of the association adding that the association is happy with the ongoing educational revolution ongoing in Kebbi State, this, he added, is a good omen for the future of the youths in the state and students in general.
Oladoja added that the association boasts of no fewer than 40.1 million membership both at home and abroad.
He also praised the prompt payment of scholarship grants to students in the state while disclosing that the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has honoured Governor Idris with the title of ‘Commander of Nigerian Students (CNS)’, while that of President Bola Tinubu is ‘Great Commander of Nigerian Students (GCNS)’.
