Akinlalu Killings: Gov Adeleke Welcomes Police Investigation But Urges Respect For Rule of Law
Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has commended the Inspector General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun for the steps taken so far in respect of the recent killings in Akinlalu while however emphasizing the need to ensure respect for the rule of law as investigation gets underway.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed which was made available to Team@orientactualmags.com, Governor Adeleke assured the police of full cooperation and urged full support for the investigation efforts while noting that he had earlier ordered investigation into the incident.
Commiserating with the victims once again, the governor affirmed his commitment to fishing out those responsible ,declaring that ‘no one or group, no matter how highly placed or connected found to be culpable in one way or the other should be spared from facing the full brunt of the law’.
The governor, who further said there will be no sacred cows in the matter at hand, however urged the police to ensure respect for the rule of law and fairness, adding that innocent people must be protected within the bound of law.
He also noted that justice must not only be done but be brought to bear accordingly without any let or hindrance.
‘No one or group of person, no matter how highly placed or connected found to be culpable in one way or the other should be spared from facing the full brunt of the law.
I will not condone violation of the law or any act of indiscipline and impunity. In this matter, the law must take its course.
