Why I’ve Kept My Promise Not To Take On Govt Position, Trouble Not Over For PDP-Fayose
Former governor of Ekiti State, Chief Ayodele Fayose, submitted on Wednesday that he has kept his promise not to take on government position but to only remain a supporter of the President Bola Tinubu administration.
Recall that Chief Ayodele Fayose had in July 2023 declared that he will not take on any government position and will also remain a member of PDP.
‘Have I taken on any government position under the APC? Asiwaju had asked me, ‘What should we give you?’ and I said, ‘Nothing sir’.
At 65, I will rather be at home, being more responsible, doing other things that I need to do.
I have served well. Two-term governor, I have done well. Tomorrow will hold itself’ he submitted on Wednesday.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the former governor, who said this while appearing on Seun Okinbaloye’s Politics Today programme on Channels Television, added that while he remains President Bola Tinubu’s friend, the relationship however has nothing to do with party membership.

‘I have not been with APC, but I have been Asiwaju’s friend and brother for a long time. That is the truth’ he said.
Chief Fayose, who said the intraparty conflict in PDP is self-inflicted, also asserted that President Bola Tinubu has nothing to do with it.
He also said political ambitions of PDP defectors among the governors including Governor Douye Diri and Governor Peter Mbah served as motivation for their decision to leave the party and not pressure from the presidency as alleged.
‘President Tinubu should not be blamed for PDP’s problems. The PDP is sick and remains perpetually sick without a cure in view.
Those who killed the party know themselves. There is a difference between a former governor and a sitting governor’ he said.
Chief Fayose, who disclosed that three among the remaining PDP governors will be leaving the party soon, added that the PDP will be left with just five governors.
‘Let me tell you, there are three more governors that will leave soon.
There will be five remaining. The five remaining, one of them will struggle to be on the presidential ticket, and they all know that it is not an ordinary tissue paper.
They are largely killing the party because they want to control it. This was what happened in 2023’ he added.
The former Ekiti State governor also said there is no formidable opposition candidate that can stop President Tinubu from winning re-election in 2027.
‘Tell me who would defeat APC? The only opposition that I know that is in Nigeria. I am not saying that will win Asiwaju. The only person that has traction is Obi.
Despite not being in government, he is the only one talking and everywhere. I give it to him’ he said-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
