CP Adekimi Ojo To Kwara Residents: For Your Own Good, Don’t Serve As Aider, Abettor Of Crime
Residents of Kwara State have been urged to shun the idea of making themselves available as abettors and aiders of crime in order to help the security agencies in achieving the mandate of protecting lives and property.
Presiding over the press conference held at the police headquarters, Ilorin on Friday which was attended by journalists including Team@orientactualmags.com, the state police chief, Mr. Adekimi Ojo, a Commissioner of Police, lamented the high number of aiders and abettors of crime in the state, noting that this has been identified as one of the major challenges facing policing in the country.
He made reference to an instance where a prominent person was abducted in the state and the very person, who was coordinating efforts to have the abductee released and was even about getting mandated to deliver ransom to the kidnappers, was later discovered to be an abettor and an aider.
The aider in question, who is the victim’s cousin, was also discovered to have been the kidnappers’ friend since ten years ago.
CP Adekimi Ojo also disclosed that life has returned to Oke-Ode, Ifelodun local government, as their weekly market was ‘full of people’ this week while some who had left due to safety fears are already returning to the ancient town.
He commended Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for his efforts to tackle insecurity in the state while submitting that the governor has ‘done much’.
The police chief specially lauded the governor for coming up with the idea of organizing a fresh training programme for newly recruited constables in the state to ensure proficiency in the use of a variety of firearms while disclosing that the 3-week fresh training programme will begin on October 27.
Submitting that the security situation in the state has improved, he added that this was as a result of the efforts of the state police command in collaboration with other security agencies in the state and neighbouring states like Niger and Kogi-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
