Igbomina Lokan Campaign: KAG Decries Attempt To Hinder ‘Unity Of Effort’, Condemns Rep Raheem Olawuyi’s Role
A group, the Kwara Awareness Group (KAG) on Friday commended traditional rulers and thought leaders in Igbomina land for urging a collective effort and championing the Igbomina lokan campaign while however condemning Rep Raheem Olawuyi for making an attempt to hinder ‘unity of effort’ at the summit held on Thursday by Egbe Omo Ibile Igbomina.
The group noted that getting the Igbomina lokan campaign translated into reality requires shared understanding, a common vision, and coordination hence Egbe Omo Ibile Igbomina’s decision to organize the summit .
KAG in a statement issued by its Chairman, Mr. Daniel Afolayan, and Secretary, Mr Ridwan Olalekan on Friday which was made available to Team@orientactualmags.com added that it was surprising and disappointing that representative of Rep Raheem Olawuyi, who is popularly called Ajulo Opin, could make a speech that can lead to conflict, a breakdown in harmony, and a possible inability to achieve the desired goals effectively.
The group urged the federal lawmaker to refrain from taking any step that can hinder ‘unity of effort’ and to also ensure that his representatives at events are told to be civil and avoid stoking disunity.
‘We condemn in strong terms what the representative of Rep Ajulo Opin, Mr Lanre Agas conveyed to the audience at the summit held by Egbe Omo Ibile Igbomina on Thursday .
While it was condemnable that Ajulo Opin ,who is the only Igbomina son among all the federal lawmakers from Kwara State did not attach importance to the event by ensuring physical attendance, it was more astonishing that his representative could not tell the audience what he has done to promote the interests of Igbomina land since he became a member of the House of Representatives in 2018 but could only talk about how he lost the Kwara South APC senate primary election in 2022, and how he plans to get party nomination this time around.
It is unfortunate that Rep Olawuyi’s representative displayed the show of shame at an event attended by all the first class traditional rulers in Igbomina land and other monarchs.
We commend our highly revered traditional rulers for noticing this anomaly and for not only showing objection via facial expressions but for also cautioning him directly and for stopping the situation from degenerating. What happened at that event was a clear rejection of Ajulo Opin and all that he represents.
During the primary election that he even made reference to, delegates from Irepodun local government where he hails from did not vote for him because he is not popular at home. We want the Igbomina bloc to produce the next occupant of Kwara South parliament seat and that was what gave birth to the Igbomina lokan campaign.
