The delegation, comprising top national and state executives of the NLC paid a sympathy visit to the Governor at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi, on Friday.

A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yahaya Sarki noted that during the visit, Comrade Ajaero expressed the NLC’s deep solidarity with the government and people of Kebbi State over the unfortunate incident while describing the abduction as a deliberate attempt by enemies of progress to distract and destabilize development efforts.
He reiterated that the labour movement stands firmly with the working people of Nigeria and remains committed to the peace, progress, and security of the nation.
Ajaero disclosed that the NLC will review its strategies to help strengthen security for citizens, workers, and schoolchildren nationwide.
He clarified that the visit by the NLC officials was not a protest over governance or welfare of workers but rather a firm stance against the politicization of national security issues. He stressed the need for proactive and preventive measures to safeguard communities.
Ajaero assured the governor of continued prayers, support, and partnership, noting that this tragedy is a national concern requiring unity from all Nigerians.
Governor Nasir Idris, in his speech, expressed gratitude for the solidarity visit while also appreciating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for dispatching the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, to Kebbi State immediately after the incident.
He explained that the incident occurred shortly after the State Government convened a security meeting and adopted measures in collaboration with security agencies, including the deployment of additional personnel, following assurances from the security agencies that the situation was under control.
‘The military personnel stationed at the school withdrew at 3:00 pm, while the abduction took place at about 3:45 pm this therefore raises serious concerns’ Governor Idris said.
The governor called for a thorough military investigation to determine who authorized the withdrawal.
Idris added that Muslim and Christian clerics, as well as traditionalists, have intensified prayers for the safe return of the girls and for lasting security and peace in the nation.
Governor Idris reaffirmed the commitment of both the State and Federal Governments to rescuing the abducted schoolgirls while adding that he has visited the affected school, met with parents, and engaged with teachers to understand the circumstances surrounding the incident.
He thanked President Tinubu for directing security agencies to ensure the immediate rescue of the girls, and appreciated the Vice President for visiting Kebbi to convey the Federal Government’s sympathy and support-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
