2026 Osun Guber: Bola Oyebamiji, Mulikat Jimoh Left To Compete For APC Nomination As Others Get ‘Negative’ Nod…It’s ‘Mere Speculation’-Omisore

2026 Osun Guber: Bola Oyebamiji, Mulikat Jimoh Left To Compete For APC Nomination As Others Get ‘Negative’ Nod…It’s ‘Mere Speculation’-Omisore

Ahead of Osun State gubernatorial primary which is scheduled to hold on December 13, 2025, the possibility of a ‘tight race’ no longer exists following the decision of the Screening Committee to ensure strict adherence to rules and requirements which has reportedly left 7 aspirants disqualified.

It was gathered that the Screening Committee headed by Chief Obinna Uzoh concluded its assignment on December 4, 2025, and submitted its report to the APC National Working Committee in Abuja on Friday.

Mr Bola Oyebamiji

The committee submitted that Otunba Iyiola Omisore, Mr Babatunde Hareter Oralusi, Oyedotun Babayemi, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, Benedict Alabi, Adegoke Rasheed Okiki, and former senator Babajide Omoworare did not submit proof of sponsorship from at least five fully registered and financially current party members from each Local Government in Osun State, as stipulated by Articles 9.3(i) and 31.2(ii) of the APC Constitution and Paragraph 6(c) of the party guidelines.

Only Mulikat Abiola Jimoh and Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji are now left to compete and seek gubernatorial nomination.

Hon Mulikat Jimoh

‘In carrying out its assignment, the Committee adopted the following screening process:

Examination of documents and materials: All forms, declarations, supporting materials, and attachments submitted by aspirants were thoroughly reviewed to verify their authenticity and compliance with statutory and party requirements.

Each aspirant underwent a structured interview session during which the Committee assessed their knowledge of party rules, personal preparedness, adherence to nomination requirements, and overall suitability.

This methodology ensured a transparent, fair, and objective evaluation process’ the committee reportedly submitted.

The committee also acknowledged receipt of a petition from the Osun APC Renewal Group calling for the disqualification of two aspirants who were said to have failed to meet the mandatory nomination requirements set out in the APC Constitution and the party’s guidelines for the governorship primary.

‘Upon careful review, the Committee found the issues raised in the petition to be weighty, substantial, and relevant to the integrity of the screening process. In the interest of fairness, transparency, and uniform application of the Party’s rules, the Committee resolved that the concerns highlighted should not be applied selectively.

The Committee found that two aspirants, Mulikat Abiola Jimoh and Munirudeen Bola Oyebanji, satisfactorily met all constitutional and guideline requirements of the APC, including proper nomination by the requisite number of fully registered, financially up-to-date party members from each Local Government Area.

The Committee observed that seven aspirants—Sen. Iyiola Omisore, Babatunde Hareter Oralusi, Mr. Oyedotun Babayemi, Dr. Akinade Akanmu Ogunbiyi, Benedict Olugboyega Alabi, Adegoke Rasheed Okiki Adekunle, and Sen. Babajide Omoworare—failed to meet the mandatory nomination requirement of being sponsored by five fully registered and financially up-to-date members from each Local Government Area, contrary to Articles 9.3(i) and 31.2(ii) of the APC Constitution, as well as Paragraph 6(c) of the APC Guidelines for the 2025 Governorship Primary’ the committee also submitted while however emphasizing the need to ensure ‘unity of effort’ ahead of the August 8, 2926, gubernatorial election.

‘It is therefore recommended that the National Leadership immediately establish a robust reconciliation mechanism to unify all factions and groups. A harmonized party is essential for a credible primary and success in the gubernatorial election.

To foster broad inclusion and minimize feelings of marginalization, the Party should ensure that political appointments, party offices, and campaign roles are evenly distributed across all zones, blocs, and interest groups within the State.

The Committee expresses its profound gratitude to the NWC and the leadership of the APC for the confidence reposed in us, the members, to undertake this important assignment. We affirm our unwavering commitment to the principles of fairness and credibility that define our Party’ the committee added.

It is intriguing to note that the outcome of the screening exercise is in semblance with what happened in Osun State’s neighbor; Ekiti State where only Governor Abiodun Oyebanji and Omolayo Oluremi were left to compete and seek gubernatorial nomination.

Governor Oyebamiji eventually won the party nomination and will be running on the party’s ticket.

Interestingly, it is ‘Oyebanji’ in Ekiti State and there is a high possibility that it will be ‘Oyebamiji’ in Osun State.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Otunba Iyiola Omisore has reacted to the media report claiming that he and 6 others have been ‘disqualified’ and called this ‘mere speculation’ while urging supporters and party members to remain calm .

Director General of Osun Rescue Mission Team, Hon. Ajibola Famurewa in a statement on Friday night urged ‘everyone to remain calm and refrain from spreading unconfirmed information’.

‘The attention of the Osun Rescue Mission Team has been drawn to a circulating rumour, further amplified by a few national dailies and online platforms, alleging the disqualification of Distinguished Senator Iyiola Omisore and six other aspirants by the Screening Committee of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

We wish to categorically state that these reports are unverified, misleading, and should be treated as mere speculation. The leadership of the Rescue Mission Team is already engaging the appropriate organs of the party to ascertain the true position of things, and we are confident that due process, fairness, and transparency values our party upholds will prevail.

While we understand the anxiety this rumour has generated among party faithful, supporters, and the general public, we strongly urge everyone to remain calm and refrain from spreading unconfirmed information. The situation is currently being critically reviewed, and we assure all well-meaning stakeholders that the facts will be made public as soon as the necessary clarifications are concluded.

We deeply appreciate the numerous calls, messages, and expressions of solidarity from members of the Osun Rescue Mission Team, party supporters across the state, and concerned individuals who hold Senator Omisore in high regard. Your unwavering support reinforces our commitment to ensuring that truth triumphs over misinformation.

We therefore encourage all supporters to maintain confidence in the process, stay focused, and continue to uphold the progressive ideals that define our movement. Rest assured every matter will be resolved and fully unveiled in due course’ he submitted-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
