2027 Kwara Guber: Bolarinwa Unveils ‘Policy Platform’ In Ilorin, Promises To Build On Gov Abdulrazaq’s Achievements

Hon Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa, PhD, a Kwara State APC Governorship Aspirant, officially launched his gubernatorial bid at the M&M Event Centre, Ilorin on Tuesday during which he unveiled a 6-point strategic plan for the state if elected governor in 2027.

Giving his speech during the declaration ceremony on Tuesday, the guber aspirant, who holds a PhD in International Relations, touched on the ‘policy platform’ while also noting that he took the decision to throw his hat in the ring because of ‘a strong sense of duty and a passionate desire to serve our people at higher capacity’.

‘With gratitude to Almighty Allah for His guidance, and with humility in my heart, I, Hon Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa, PhD, hereby formally declare my intention to contest for the office of Kwara State governor. This decision is not born out of personal ambition alone, but from a clear conviction, a strong sense of duty and a passionate desire to serve our people at higher capacity’ he said.

Speaking on his vision for the state, Dr Bolarinwa promised to tackle insecurity decisively; uphold peace, unity and fairness, deliver people-centered governance; strengthen economy of the state through innovation, agriculture and enterprise development;  invest in healthcare, education and infrastructure; and empower youth and women who are drivers of growth and stability.

He also talked about his rich public service credentials which made him serve at different times as a Councilor, LG Chairman and a member of the House of Representatives while asserting that he served the people diligently at every given opportunity. 

The former Kwara State APC Chairman promised to consolidate and build on the impactful work of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq asserting that the current APC administration in the state has served the people commendably.

While appreciating the good works of Governor AbdulRazaq, he said: ‘I met His Excellency, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq yesterday evening at the Government House and we had a fruitful deliberations. We here today to discuss future of Kwara State’.

According  to him, ‘our state’ stands at a critical point where  we must deepen development, expand opportunities, and ensure that governance truly reflects fairness, inclusion and justice adding that ‘we must build a Kwara where no district feels left behind’. 

Dr Bolarinwa therefore solicited for the support of party leaders, stakeholders and Kwarans to move the state forward.

Earlier, a representative from his home town- Agbeku, Ifelodun local government attested to his consistent community impacts for over three decades.

‘Bashir Bolarinwa is a good Ambassador of Agbeku. He installed streetlights in our town, provided support for community school and health centre to run effectively. We believe that he will perform excellently as Kwara State governor’ he said.

In their separate speeches, former Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Hon Yisa Benjamin, Chairman of Lagos Mainland Local Government, Alhaji Jubril Emilagba who is a native of Omupo, former Chairman of Ekiti local government and representatives from the three Senatorial districts of Kwara State, described Dr Bolarinwa as a God fearing politician with experience and capacity to lead the State of Harmony to greater heights.
