Police Arrest 5 Suspected Kidnappers Found In Possession Of AK-47 Rifles In Kwara
Five suspected kidnappers have been arrested and taken into custody by the police in Kwara State.
A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by spokesperson for the state police command, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, a Superintendent of Police, noted that the suspected kidnappers; Mohammad Awal, Sani Mallam Musa, Idris Umar, Muhammed Usman and Abdullahi Abubakar, who had their names mentioned in connection with a recent abduction incident in Idiya community, were also found in possession of AK-47 Rifles.
‘In a renewed push against kidnapping and violent crimes, the Kwara State Police Command has successfully arrested five suspected kidnappers and recovered arms and ammunition.
On 23rd April, 2026 at about 1630hrs, cops attached to the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Team, acting on credible intelligence and in collaboration with local vigilantes and forest guards, carried out a coordinated operation at Oke-Iya Community. The operation led to the arrest of three suspects identified as Idris Umar, Muhammed Usman, and Abdullahi Abubakar, who are linked to the recent invasion of Idiya community where five persons were kidnapped.
Further investigation revealed that two of the kidnapped victims had earlier escaped from captivity. Ongoing investigation led to the identification and subsequent arrest of two additional suspects, Mohammad Awal and Sani Mallam Musa, in connection with the crime.
Items recovered from the suspects include a locally fabricated revolver rifle adapted to fire AK-47 ammunition, along with eight rounds of live AK-47 ammunition.
