Oriire LG School Abductions: If I Were Nigerian President, I Would’ve Joined Search And Rescue Team-Peter Obi

NDC presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi has revisited the issue of the recent school abductions in Oyo State disclosing how he would have handled the situation differently if he were the Nigerian president.

Recall that teachers and students at Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L.A. Primary School were abducted on May 15, 2026.

The aforementioned schools are located in Esiele and Yawota communities, Oriire Local Government, Oyo State.

The students and teachers in question regained their freedom on July 10, 2026, after spending 56 days in captivity.

  Mr Peter Obi has submitted that he would have joined the search and rescue team if he were the Nigerian President.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the former Anambra State governor, who said this during an interview with Alex Ogbodo of Afia TV’s Eastern Eye on Thursday, also said President Bola Tinubu not getting in touch with Governor Seyi Makinde after gunmen attacked the three schools was very wrong

‘Days of abduction of Oyo children. The president did not call the governor. What do you mean? Fifty days.

But I’ll be there in two days. Is the bush not in Nigeria? That bush they went in. The bush is in Nigeria.

Everybody in that bush will come out. Everybody. There might be casualties but everybody will come out’ he said.

He also said the Federal Government has failed to come fully open in respect of the school abductions in question and what had happened after the  abductees were rescued.

 ‘And it is time when we say we resolve something. We arrest some people. Present the people to the public. Let people see them. What is happening?

When America or other countries kill people like that, they present them to the public. They show it. Everybody sees it.

In Nigeria, everything is shrouded in secrecy’ he said.

The NDC presidential candidate also recalled how he was an active leader as governor of Anambra State disclosing that he confronted criminal activities in forests across the state by taking direct action after consulting the then president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.

 ‘No way. It’s either I’m in charge or you people are in charge. I go home. One person must be in charge.

And if you’re in charge, if you want to lead, you should be ready to die. If you don’t want to, you go home.
