2027: Why Kwarans Should Consider Rt. Hon. Zakari Mohammed-Saka Agunbiade Imam
As we approach the 2027 Kwara State governorship election, Kwarans must look beyond political parties, political godfathers and personal interests. The most important question should be: Who has the experience, independence and clear agenda to govern Kwara effectively?
Rt. Hon. Zakari Mohammed, ADC Governorship Candidate, stands out.

I am not a card-carrying member of any political party. My position is based on what I have seen and heard. I recently watched Rt. Hon. Zakari Mohammed engage with Kwarans, and I saw a man who understands the challenges facing our state and appears genuinely prepared to serve.
There is also the issue of political godfatherism. Kwarans should be careful about electing a governor who may be controlled by those who sponsored his emergence. The experience of the Saraki–Abdulfatah Ahmed era is still fresh in our minds. We should not allow history to repeat itself, whether through SBK, AA’s alleged political arrangements, or any other structure.
Let all the major candidates come together and tell Kwarans their plans.
Let them explain their programmes for the heath sector ditto security, employment, education, and agricultural sectors.
Also, infrastructure development, youth development and the equitable development of Kwara North, Kwara Central and Kwara South senatorial districts.
Let Kwarans compare their experience, competence and independence.
For me, Zakari Mohammed’s experience in journalism, public service and the National Assembly, coupled with his understanding of Kwara and Nigeria, gives him an advantage worth considering.
2027 should not be about who has the strongest godfather. It should be about who has the strongest agenda and capacity to deliver for Kwara.
Let us listen to all the candidates, interrogate their programmes and make a wise choice.
Let the people decide. Let the best agenda win-Alhaji Saka Agunbiade Imam, who is an indigene of Offa, Kwara State, writes from Potiskum, Yobe State
