Osun state APC has asked Reverend Bunmi Jenyo not to disturb Governor Gboyega Oyetola with what the party called ‘unsolicited advice’.
It will be recalled that Jenyo, an Osun state PDP bigwig, who also heads the inaugural committee set up by Governor-elect, former senator Ademola Adeleke which will be in charge of the upcoming inaugural ceremony and all activities connected with it, had advised Governor Gboyega Oyetola to accept the July 16, 2022 governorship election outcome.
He was quoted to have also advised Oyetola to emulate Chief Bisi Akande ‘who was defeated in the 2003 guber election’ and refused to challenge the outcome of the election in the court of law.
Osun state APC Chairman, Prince Gboyega Famodun in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by his media adviser, Mr Kola Olabisi on Sunday, called the PDP chieftain a poor student of history ‘for him to have chosen the option of asking Oyetola not to explore the exercise of his fundamental human right’.
The party reminded Reverend Jenyo that approaching the tribunal in respect of the governorship election ‘is within the purview of the exercise of Governor Oyetola’s right under the nation’s Constitution’.
The statement explained further that if it was the preferred option of former Governor Akande not to challenge what it called ‘brazenly stolen victory’ in the 2003 governorship election, it shouldn’t however be a fathomable potent reason by any reasonable political leader to come up with such a hollow and mendacious advice.
The APC cautioned Jenyo to stop dabbling into an issue which he knows next to nothing about as it is uncharitable of him to have made reference to the Osun state 2003 governorship election which the party claimed ‘was heavily compromised to favour the PDP’ for a canvassed reason of its do-or-die presidential candidate looking for a home base in the South-West.
‘It is on record that the South-West geopolitical zone was overrun and politically looted by the PDP political marauders during the 2003 general election which to date, has been giving the reactionary party an exaggerated notion of its popularity and acceptability in the zone in general and Osun State in particular.
Let it be registered in Jenyo’s subconscious mind that Governor Oyetola has not broken any known law by approaching the tribunal with regard to the controversial results of the July 16, 2022 governorship election in Osun State.
In a saner clime, Oyetola should be commended rather than vilified for his choice of legal option over the Osun State governorship election debacle as it shows him to be civilized and law-abiding.
Jenyo should have it as a take-home tutorial that as at today, there is no clear-cut winner or loser of the Osun State governorship election until the Supreme Court which is the highest court in the land gives its final verdict’ the statement submitted- Team@orientactualmags.com
