From N3,600 To Global Fashion Empire: Seyi Vodi Reveals How He Has Built His Brand On Discipline And Hard Work for 23 Years
Renowned Nigerian fashion entrepreneur and founder of the Vodi Group, Mr Oluwaseyi Adekunle, who is popularly called Seyi Vodi, has shared the inspiring story of his rise to prominence, submitting that true success is built on unwavering dedication, focus, and hard work.
Team@orientactualmags.com reports that Mr Seyi Vodi, who was a panelist at the ‘Yahaya Seriki Empowerment & Enterprise Colloquium 2026’ held at Arca Santa Arena, Ajase-Ipo Road, Ilorin on Saturday, also traced his entrepreneurial journey back to his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) days.

He revealed that his very first business capital came from his meager ₦3,600 monthly NYSC allowance, which he used to buy boxers and resell them to fellow corps members at the lodge.
Challenging contemporary spending habits among the young people, he noted that money often spent on luxury items like an iPhone could instead function as seed capital transforming a young person into a future shareholder of the very companies that manufacture those devices.
Highlighting the core values behind his multi-decade trajectory, Seyi Vodi noted that financial prudence, deep devotion to his craft, and delayed gratification were vital long before his breakthrough. The fashion entrepreneur said he rarely attends social gatherings unless strictly necessary, preferring to anchor himself physically or mentally at his workshop.
Reflecting on his humble beginnings, he recalled how his uncle with whom he lived in Gwaglavada, Abuja scraped together money to buy him his first industrial sewing machine 23 years ago. Today, his enterprise employs over 400 tailors and counts high-profile political and national leaders, including presidents from countries like Liberia and Guinea Conakry, among his clientele.
He also shared a personal anecdote from his early days regarding his pastor, who repeatedly invited him to join pastoral visits to absentee church members. After declining the third request, he explained to his pastor that his divine calling was tied directly to his work and his shop, which demanded his strict attention.
Mr Seyi Vodi, who said he is an avid reader and a creative thinker, urged aspiring entrepreneurs to embrace diligence, stating firmly that God rewards hard work rather than laziness-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
