Abdicate Throne If You Find Our Customs And Traditions Loathsome, Olowo Of Owo Tells Yoruba Monarchs
Traditional rulers in Yoruba land, who consider the people’s customs and traditions loathsome, have no business keeping the throne, such monarchs should therefore voluntarily abdicate throne, the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye, has submitted.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that he said this during the visit of members of the International Council for Ifa Religion to his palace in Owo, Ondo State.

ICIR President, Mr Fayemi Fakayode noted in a statement he issued in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, on Friday that Oba Ogunoye said it has become important for true Yoruba sons and daughters to do the needful to preserve their culture and tradition.
Modernization, he noted, should be adopted in line with the traditional dictates of the land and should not be allowed to erode the identity of the people while asking traditional rulers who seek to place other religions above the Yoruba traditional religion to abdicate throne.
‘I am glad to receive the Council on this visit and at this crucial period. It is pertinent to emphasize the importance of preserving our culture and tradition.
We therefore call on true sons and daughters of Yoruba land anywhere in the world to see this as a wake-up call to protect the values cherished by their forbearers.
Anyone who is not ready to promote the indigenous culture of the Yoruba land should stay away from the position of Oba or abdicate throne, as Yoruba is a special race endowed with a peculiar heritage, including religion.
We all know that the throne derives its essence from ancient Yoruba tradition, and we know that all princes are entitled to the throne, but whoever among them cannot abide by the custom of the land need not vie for the throne’ he said.
ICIR President, Fayemi Fakayode, had earlier told the monarch that their visit was to thank him for promoting and protecting Yoruba heritage.
Also speaking, ICIR’s lawyer, Doyin Odebowale commended the Owo monarch for championing the cause of keeping Yoruba tradition and values in high regard while urging other Yoruba monarchs to attach importance to their respective thrones so as to be relevant and be taken seriously by those who matter in society-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
