Argument Over Fruits For Iftar Leaves 24-Year-Old Woman Dead In Bauchi…Husband Arrested

A businessman, Nuru Isah has been arrested and taken into custody in Bauchi State. He was arrested for manslaughter.
Isah’s 24-year-old wife, Wasila Abdulahi died after being flogged by him.
The incident happened on Saturday night in the Fadamam Mada area of Bauchi.
The couple had reportedly engaged in an argument over ingredients and fruits that would be used for iftar.
Muslims are ordered to fast from dawn to sunset during the month of Ramadan and Iftar is the evening meal they take after the sun has gone down.
Spokesman for the state police command, Ahmed Wakil disclosed on Sunday that Isah was giving Wasilah, the youngest of his two wives, strokes of the cane until she suddenly collapsed, and she was rushed to a hospital where she was declared a brought in dead patient.
‘This unfortunate event arose from a misunderstanding between one Alhaji Nuru Isah, aged 50, a businessman at Central Market Bauchi and his second wife, Wasila Abdullahi, aged 24, concerning handling of food ingredients and fruits that will be used for breaking the Ramadan fast, which escalated into a violent confrontation.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect, Alhaji Nuru Isah, is accused of flogging his wife, which resulted in her collapsing and becoming unconscious right at their residence.
The victim was subsequently transported to the ATBU Teaching Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed her as a brought in dead patient’ he said.
‘The Bauchi State Police Command has initiated a thorough investigation into this incident and has apprehended the suspect, Alhaji Nuru Isah. The cane purportedly used in the assault has been recovered as exhibits, and the body of the deceased person has been kept in the mortuary pending autopsy procedures.
The Commissioner of Police, Auwal Muhamad, has assured the public that commitment to ensuring justice remains a priority for the command.
