Battle For 2031 Begins As Defunct ANPP Leaders Say It’s Their Turn To Produce APC Presidential Candidate
Members and leaders of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) have urged President Bola Tinubu to ensure fairness and inclusivity in the APC by allowing one of them to emerge as the party’s presidential candidate in 2031.
The former ANPP members said their demand is based on the need for fairness and equity among the legacy political blocs that came together to form the APC in 2013, noting that the CPC bloc had produced former president Muhammadu Buhari for two terms, while the presidency is currently being occupied by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who emerged from the former ACN bloc.

The former ANPP members noted that having supported the formation of the APC and remained part of the party’s political structure, the former ANPP bloc should be considered for the presidency when President Tinubu’s tenure ends in 2031.
That was not all, they also urged President Bola Tinubu to increase the representation of former ANPP members in his administration through appointments to strategic government positions.
While noting that the ANPP bloc retaining the position of Vice President in 2027 is non-negotiable being the second-largest contributor to the formation of APC, they also expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for what they described as positive responses to some of the demands they had presented after the meeting they held on November 3, 2025.
