Borno NDC Expels Assembly Candidate, Condemns Use Of Atiku’s Picture On Campaign Posters

Borno State NDC has expelled a house of Assembly candidate, Hon Mohammed Bunu from the party.

He was accused of campaigning for the ADC presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar while also using his picture on his campaign posters.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the state NDC in a letter dated October 25, 2026, which was signed by the deputy chairman, Umar Fema noted that Bunu’s conduct was considered inconsistent with its constitution, rules, regulations and established principles of discipline.

‘The leadership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Borno State chapter, hereby formally communicates the party’s disciplinary decision concerning allegations of anti-party activities and conduct considered inconsistent with the party’s constitution, rules, regulations, and established principles of discipline.

The matter concerns the campaign material bearing the logo of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the slogan ‘SABON TAFIYA, SABON SALO’ and the photographs and names of His Excellency, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Hon. Mohammed Bunu’ the party submitted in the letter.

Using ADC logo and Atiku’s picture on his campaign posters had according to Umar Fema raised concerns among party leaders about Bunu’s political association, allegiance, loyalty and commitment to the principles and interests of the NDC.

The party had therefore considered the matter a serious disciplinary issue requiring examination under its constitution and established internal procedures.

The Hausari Ward Executive had consequently invited Bunu to appear before it at about 10 am on October 23, 2026, to respond to allegations concerning his alleged involvement in campaign activities associated with another political party but he failed to honour the invitation.

‘According to the report submitted by the ward leadership, you did not appear to defend yourself’ the party said.

Following Bunu’s decision to shun the invitation, the ward secretary, Rabiu Umar, had according to Umar Fema recommended a disciplinary action and referred the matter to the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council Working Committee for further consideration.

Bunu was again, invited to appear before an investigation committee to respond to the allegations on October 24 but, according to the party’s report, he did not show up.

The party added that after considering the committee’s report, the chairman of Maiduguri Metropolitan Council Working Committee, Adamu Ibrahim, endorsed the recommendation for dismissal and forwarded the matter to the state leadership for further action in accordance with the constitution of the NDC.

After examining the allegations and the reports submitted through the party’s disciplinary structure, the NDC according to Umar Fema took the decision to expel Bunu from the party, subject to applicable constitutional requirements and the authority of the relevant party organs-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
