CAPA Warns Against Politicization Of Insecurity, Urges National Unity
With the rising wave of insecurity in the country, the Council of American Peace Advocates (CAPA) has urged all the stakeholders, security agencies, and political actors in Nigeria to place national unity and peace above partisan interests while noting that the security of lives and property of Nigerians must remain a collective responsibility.
CAPA expressed concern that the recent escalation of insecurity may be a deliberate attempt by certain elements to paint the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration in a bad light. The council warned opposition actors to desist from actions that can endanger innocent citizens and risk destabilizing Nigeria for selfish gains.
Secretary General of CAPA, Dr Rhonda Hardee in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Monday condemned recent killings and kidnappings across the country, warning that human lives must not be sacrificed on the altar of political power struggles.
The statement noted that the increasing incidents of killings and violent attacks in parts of the Southwest which is the president’s home region, is particularly disturbing.
‘There are growing concerns that these acts are being orchestrated to create fear, discredit the government, and manipulate public perception to make the people lose confidence in the current administration.
No ambition, ideology, or political calculation is worth the blood of innocent Nigerians. The continuous wasting of human lives in the name of politics is cruel, unacceptable, and must stop immediately’ the statement added.
CAPA reminded leaders that Nigeria belongs to all citizens, regardless of tribe, ethnicity, political affiliation, or religion.
‘Our diversity must remain our strength and not a tool for division, hatred, or violence. Every citizen deserves the right to live in peace, safety, dignity, and freedom’ CAPA submitted while urging all stakeholders, security agencies, community leaders, and political actors to prioritize national unity, peace, and the protection of lives over partisan interests.
The organization also reemphasized the fact that preserving security is a shared national duty-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
