Kwara Monarch’s Wives, Children Abducted After ‘Brave Encounter’ With Bandits

Emir of Yashikira, Baruten local government, Kwara State, Alhaji Umar Sarki, Sabi Kpasi had a brave encounter with bandits ,who attacked his palace between 1am and 2am on Monday.

Sources told Team@orientactualmags.com that the monarch had a bold and daring face-to-face confrontation with the bandits before he reportedly made himself invisible.

It was an incident that has made memories to flood back. What happened at the Emir’s palace in Yashikirah was in semblance with two past incidents; the fire incident at Okota residence of late Alhaji Sikiru Ayinde Barrister on March 11, 1996, and the attack on the Soka, Ibadan residence of  Sunday Adeyemo (Sunday Igboho) on July 1, 2021.

The bandits who had apparently planned to abduct the first class monarch cognizant that he is a prize catch, angrily went away with three among his wives and six children. Sources told our reporter that the gunmen have not contacted the family for ransom.

Just like what happened at Sunday Igboho’s residence where the DSS agents shot cats dead , the bandits also reportedly redirected  hostile feelings to ostriches at the palace and killed them.

In the meanwhile, the police have confirmed the incident while noting that the bandits also attacked the Yashikira Police Divisional Headquarters.

The police have called this ‘coordinated and desperate operation’.

A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by spokesperson for the state police command, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, a Superintendent of Police, noted that police officers successfully repelled the attack on the police station.

‘The Kwara State Police Command condemns in the strongest possible terms the cowardly and audacious attack carried out by suspected bandits in the early hours of today, 25/5/26, in Yashikira, Kaiama Local Government, Kwara State.

The armed criminals in a coordinated and desperate attack at about 0200hrs, simultaneously attacked the Yashikira Police Divisional Headquarters and the Palace of the Emir of Yashikira’ the statement said.

The police also noted that part of the Emir’s palace was set ablaze while ten people were abducted and taken to an unknown destination.

 The statement also disclosed that the head of the state police command,  Mr Ojo Adekimi, a Commissioner of Police, has ordered a full-scale tactical operation involving the military, police, forest guards, vigilantes, and other security stakeholders to rescue the victims and track down the attackers.

‘The state police Command remains battle-ready and fully determined to confront these enemies of peace with every lawful operational asset and strategy at its disposal.

We will deploy everything within our operational capacity to smoke them out of hiding, dismantle their networks, rescue all abducted victims, and ensure that they face the full wrath of the law’ the statement added.
