Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele,  former Commonwealth Secretary-General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku , Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, former governor of Osun state, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola and a popular hip hop act, Mr. David Adeleke aka Davido  were among  the 339 prominent Nigerians  that have been shortlisted for  the 2023  national honours.

The Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs published the  national honours list on Sunday.

The conferment ceremony which would be held on June 1, 2023, would be presided over by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as President Muhammadu Buhari would be leaving office today,  Monday, May  29 , 2023.


 Anyaoku is the only one who would be receiving the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON).


Those listed for the award of Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) include Godwin Emefiele, governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN); Hadi Sirika; Chief Bisi Akande, Chief Olusegun Osoba,  Alhaji  Mamman Daura,  Herbert Wigwe, Chief Executive Officer of  Access Holdings; and Chime Nweze, Amina Augie, Nwani Abba Ajie and John Okoro, who are Supreme Court Justices .

Mrs  Oluremi Tinubu,  former Senator George Akume,  Isa Ali Pantami, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola , Mr Festus  Keyamo; Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu , Governor  Dapo Abiodun , Governor Yahaya Bello , Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq ,  and  Olowu of Owu Kuta , Oba Adekunle Oyelude Makama .  would be receiving the Commander of The Order of Niger (CON) .

Mr  David Adeleke (Davido), International footballer, Victor Osimhen; and  a popular actor,  Kunle Afolayan also got shortlisted while  those from the ‘media  circle’  are  former Senator Babafemi Ojudu (CON), Malam Garba Shehu (OON), Mr. Laolu Akande (OON), Mr. Victor Ifijeh (OON), Mr. Bayo Onanuga (OON), Mr. Dele Alake (OON), Mr. Tolu Ogunlesi (MON) and Mr. Sunday Aghaeze (MON).

Governor  Ademola Adeleke of Osun state has congratulated indigenes of the state of the Living Spring, who  have been shortlisted for the 2023  national honours .

In a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com  by his  spokesman, Mr.  Olawale Rasheed, the governor noted that getting shortlisted for national honours was in recognition of their noble and immense contributions to the growth and development of Osun state and Nigeria in general.

The governor further noted that they have all distinguished themselves in different ways and aspects to have been recognized by the President while calling them worthy ambassadors of the state and  submitting that ‘Osun is proud of them all’.

‘I sincerely congratulate all the Indigenes of Osun who would be receiving  different national honours.

This is indeed in recognition of their noble and immense contributions to the growth and development of Osun, as well as Nigeria.

They have all distinguished themselves in different ways and aspects to have been recognized by the President and this deserves to be celebrated.

I must say that they all are worthy ambassadors of our dear state and as the governor, I am proud of them, Osun is proud of them’ Adeleke said.

The statement also listed the indigenes in question to include  three former governors: Chief Bisi Akande, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola,  former Senator Babajide Omoworare, Mr. David Adeleke (Davido) and the Olowu of Kuta Kingdom- Oba Dr Hammed Oyelude.

Osun state former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs,  Prince Bayo Adeleke ‘Banik’, has also congratulated Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola ,noting that the CON National Honour ‘is well deserved’.

‘Congratulations to His Excellency, Alhaji Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola on this well deserved Commander of the Order of Niger (CON) national honour.

You are a good example of integrity, honesty and capacity;  the national honour  is therefore  well deserved’ he submitted.

 A statement issued in Ilorin and made available  to Team@orientactualmags.com on Sunday  also noted that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq would be made a Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) next month.

‘Governor AbdulRazaq, who would be receiving the CON, had earlier in the week emerged as new Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) .

He also won  re-election  in March this year   and this  was described as a landslide victory.

In the last four years, the Kwara state governor has  come up with transformative policies, programmes and ideas that have had huge impact on the socioeconomic configuration of the state.

He is widely adjudged as one of the best performing governors in the country.

AbdulRazaq is also a champion of women and youth inclusion in politics and governance. He has won several awards and laurels for his incredible strides in government’ the statement said-Team@orientactualmags.com
