First Responders Recover Body Of 52-Year-Old Man From Well In Ilorin
A tragic incident unfolded in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, as the body of a 52-year-old man was recovered from a well in the city.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the body of the deceased person, Mr. Alaba Ayeni was recovered from a well located near the Lamp Bearers Islamic School, off Asa-Dam Road, an area close to his residence.
The grim discovery was made by children in the area, who quickly alerted elders in the community.
Unconfirmed sources alleged that Mr Ayeni committed suicide by jumping into the well in question.
Following a distress call, the Kwara State Fire Service arrived at the scene of the incident at approximately 8:42 am to initiate a recovery operation. Firefighters successfully retrieved Mr. Ayeni’s body and handed it over to the head of Budo-Nuhu Police Station, Mr Bolaji for further investigation.
Mr Hassan Adekunle, who is the spokesman for the Kwara State Fire Service, confirmed the incident and provided detailed information in a statement he issued in Ilorin on Tuesday.
Reacting to the incident, the Chief Fire Officer, Mr Alabi Muhammed expressed deep sorrow and extended his condolences to the victim’s family and the affected community while issuing a strong safety warning and urging residents to properly cover and secure domestic wells and open water sources in the residential areas.
Mr Muhammed also advised parents, guardians, and community leaders to keep a close eye on children, ensuring they do not wander unattended near wells, drainage channels, or other hazardous locations.
