Former Kano APC Guber Candidate, Nasiru Gawuna, Visits Kwankwaso Shortly After Quitting Party
Alhaji Nasiru Gawuna, who served as Deputy Governor of Kano State under Alhaji Abdulahi Ganduje, has ended his membership of the ruling APC.
That was not all, Alhaji Nasiru Gawuna, who was the APC gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 Kano State governorship election, has also resigned from his position as Chairman of the Governing Board of Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria.
The former Deputy Governor in his resignation letter dated March 27, 2026, said he had done this in line with President Bola Tinubu’s directive that appointed political office holders who have political aspirations should resign in compliance with the Electoral Act ahead of the 2027 general election.
He thanked President Bola Tinubu for giving him the opportunity to serve, describing his tenure as a privilege that allowed him to contribute to the development of the bank and the country at large.
‘My resignation is in strict compliance with the president’s directive requiring all political appointees to step down in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Act’ he submitted.
In the meanwhile, Alhaji Nasiru Gawuna has also announced his decision to leave APC.
‘I hereby formally resign my membership from the All Progressives Congress (APC), effective March 29, 2026’ he submitted in the letter sent to the APC chairman, Gawuna Ward, Nassarawa Local Government, Kano State on Monday.
