The Obafemi Awolowo University, (OAU) Ile-Ife, on Thursday, described as untrue rumours circulating on social media that Professor Anthony Elujoba, its former Vice-Chancellor , had passed away .
The university’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Abiodun Olarewaju in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Thursday clarified that Professor Anthony Elujoba, was though involved in a car crash but submitted however that he ‘is alive and receiving medical attention’.
‘ To put the record straight ,Professor Anthony Elujoba is not dead. It is true that he was involved in an auto crash. It is heartwarming to know that he is responding to treatment.
We, therefore, want the general public to disregard, in its entirety, the malicious rumour and be praying for quick recovery of the erudite scholar’ he said.
The statement added that spreading rumours that the former VC had died was not only false but wicked, malicious, unfortunate and downright satanic noting that ‘most unfortunate was that a few conventional media houses also aired the rumours on their frequency modulation, abandoning the age – long media maxim of ‘if in doubt, leave out’ – Team@orientactualmags.com
