Gov Abdulrazaq Discloses Plans To Establish ‘Homegrown Community Security Architecture’ During Meeting With Edu/Patigi Stakeholders In Ilorin
Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State has disclosed plans to establish a Homegrown Community Security Architecture in the state to complement the National Forest Guards approved by the Federal Government recently.
A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com noted that the governor disclosed this during the meeting held with stakeholders in Edu and Patigi Local Governments at the Government House, Ilorin on Thursday, October 2, 2025.
In a joint communique issued at the end of the meeting by Alhaji Dabarako Mohammed (Garikuwan Patigi), Chairman, Edu/Patigi stakeholders and the Secretary, Alhaji Mohammed Sambo Magaji (Magatakarda Lafiaji), the stakeholders disclosed that the governor would be paying a sympathy visit to the two local governments soon.
‘The stakeholders acknowledged all the efforts of His Excellency towards overcoming the security challenges in the state but conveyed the feelings of displeasure and despair of the people of both Local governments on the delayed visitation of His Excellency to the two LGAs to console and commiserate with them since the bandits and kidnappers started invading their homeland.
The governor was informed that the activities of the insurgents have not only crippled the economic and social lives of our people but have also mentally and psychologically traumatized our people;
The team requested that more troops and as well the newly trained National Forest Guards should be equipped and deployed immediately to flush out the bandits from their hideouts;
We also brought to the attention of the governor the deplorable state of the roads leading to the two local governments especially the Tsaragi-Patigi road, the total darkness and nonfunctioning waterworks in Lafiagi and Patigi townships due to lack of electricity supply to power the equipment as well as the need for adequate support for agriculture which is the mainstay of our people.
In response, His Excellency explained in details the efforts of the Government to combat banditry in Kwara State as the Chief Security Officer of the state. He noted however that he has personally taken the matter up with the Presidency and the Military Authorities and assured that more troops are underway.
Meanwhile he disclosed that arrangements are already in top gear to establish a Homegrown Community Security Architecture as a first line of defence to checkmate the bandits, apart from the National Forest Guards approved by the Federal Government recently. He asked the stakeholders to harmonize their positions and present to him within one week, the modalities and logistics requirements to empower the Local Vigilantes and Hunters;
On the issues of paying condolence and assessment visits to the two Local Governments, His Excellency acknowledges that his visit is important and has never taken it for granted. He assured that the visit to both LGAs are scheduled and assured that every citizen of the state must be protected from all enemies of the state. He also said that palliatives and other logistic supports shall be made available to the victims and the families of those who have lost their lives;
His Excellency in strong terms frowned against the violence attacks on the Emir’s palace and destruction of other public assets as was done to the NDLEA Office in Lafiagi.
He equally admonishes the stakeholders to advise our youths not to take laws into their hands, vandalize or destroy government property or private property.
The governor also directed the stakeholders to furnish him with details of the challenges of power supply, water supply and local farmers tools for dry seasons farming as well as other germane issues to receive his immediate attention;
On the issue of fixing Tsaragi-Gbugbu-Patigi road , His Excellency has assured that more efforts will be made in collaboration with the Federal Government to ensure the resolution of all grey areas causing the delay in getting it reconstructed following the mobilization of a contractor who was awarded the reconstruction of the road a few years ago.
The governor also informed the meeting that efforts are ongoing to upgrade the Kwara State College of Education (Technical), Lafiagi.
