Guber Election: Supreme Court Upholds Gov Siminalayi Fubara’s Victory

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers state had his victory in the gubernatorial election held in the state on March 18, 2023, upheld by the Supreme Court on Thursday.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the nation’s apex court dismissed the appeal filed by Mr Tonye Cole, who was the APC candidate in the election in question.
Cole had alleged that the election was marred by irregularities adding that Fubara did not also validly resign from his previous position as required by law before earning his candidacy and therefore urged the apex court to annul his victory.
Recall that the tribunal and the Court of Appeal had at separate times dismissed Cole’s petition submitting that it lacked merit.
A five-man panel of the Supreme Court in a unanimous decision on Thursday ruled that the appellant failed to prove his allegations that there was non-compliance with the Electoral Act during the election.
The ruling was delivered by Justice Ibrahim Saulawa-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us? Do you want us to cover your event or programme? Kindly send SMS to 08059100286, 09094171980. Thank you
