I Gave Obasanjo $20,000 To Attend My Birthday Party, I Felt Like Striking Him While Giving His Speech-Fayose

I Gave Obasanjo $20,000 To Attend My Birthday Party, I Felt Like Striking Him While Giving His Speech-Fayose

Attention returned to the rift between Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, a former president, and former governor of Ekiti State, Chief Ayodele Fayose on Tuesday following the release of the interview Osokomole had with AF24 News on YouTube.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Fayose, who is popularly called Osokomole, in the interview in question disclosed what his experience was during the ‘dramatic scenes’ enacted at his 65th birthday party which was held on November 16, 2025, at 10 Degrees Event Center, Lagos.

He disclosed that there was a strong urge to physically hit the former president, a retired General, when he was saying unprintable things about him.

‘I was enraged. I felt like taking the mic from Obasanjo’s hand and hitting it on his head. This is being sincere.

Whatever differences we have had in the past, let’s put them behind us. If I have offended you, if you have offended me, let us put it behind us’ he said.

The former Ekiti State governor also clarified and submitted that he did not apologize to Obasanjo because there was no reason to have done so any way adding that he only visited his residence to invite him to his event.

‘I never called to go and apologize to Baba. I did not offend him. He was the one who removed me from office. If anybody should apologize, it is he.

We took pictures together. All in good faith. I changed $20,000 and gave it to him. How can you accept somebody’s money and come and be spitting on that person? he asked.

Fayose added that he knew that Obasanjo had hidden motives when he insisted on being the last person to deliver his speech at the event despite the fact that the Vice President was there.

‘Baba said he would be the one to speak last. I became suspicious’ he said.

Chief Obasanjo, he added, later directed the Master of Ceremony to invite Vice President Kashim Shettima before him and requested that he (Fayose) and his wife , Feyisetan should stand beside him while giving his speech which lasted for ‘one hour, 14 minutes’.

‘How do you say such things to a man on his 65th birthday? But to show maturity, not by age, but by self-respect and out of consideration for the vice-president’s presence, I kept my cool’ he added.

Chief Fayose also noted that he had sought to straighten relationship with Obasanjo ‘in good conscience’ but the former president has however shown through his conduct that he is not interested in having an excellent relationship with him.

‘If I knew this was how it would end, what do I need Obasanjo for? Am I contesting the election? Do I need his validation? No’ he submitted-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us? Do you want us to cover your event or programme?
