I’ll Reclaim My Mandate, Tinubu Getting Inaugurated As President’ ll Only Strengthen Me-Peter Obi
As Nigerians look forward to the inauguration of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as president today, Monday, May 29, 2023, Mr. Peter Obi, who was the Labour Party presidential candidate in the presidential election held on February 25 ,2023, has submitted that the former Lagos state governor getting inaugurated as president will strengthen him.
It will be recalled that Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) , Prof. Mahmood Yakubu had declared Asiwaju Bola Tinubu , who was the APC presidential candidate, winner of the 2023 Presidential Election in February.
Tinubu had 8,794,726 votes , Atiku Abubakar, who was the PDP presidential candidate, got 6,984,520 votes, Peter Obi had 6,101,533 votes while the presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso got 1,496,687 votes.
PDP, LP, and some other parties had rejected the election outcome and had asked the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal to annul Tinubu’s victory.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned he said this while responding to a participant’s question during a Twitter Space on Sunday.
The former Anambra state governor has also said he would continue to fight to reclaim what he called ‘his mandate’.
‘I didn’t start this journey in a single day; I knew it’s not going to be easy. The inauguration will strengthen me.
I know how dampened you are that your effort did not come the way you wished. We are in a battle with an entrenched establishment. We are in a long battle. Even me, I know that the journey ahead is tough; they will make allegations, blackmail and all sorts of things, but I am ready.
I thank you for your sacrifice and I ask that you do not feel dampened. Thanks for the sacrifice; thanks for being part of this greatness.
Please as we go through this pain, let us stay together. Let us do the right thing. Nobody can claim to be a saint, I am not. I could have done something unknowingly in the past. I plead that you stay focused. This is about transformation which takes time’ he said.
