Ilorin Motorcyclist Arrested After Ramming Policeman At Oyun Bridge, Police Deny Shootout
The Kwara State Police Command has reacted to social media reports claiming that a motorcyclist was shot by police officers near the Oyun Bridge in Ilorin, the state capital.
Spokesperson for Kwara State police command, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, a Superintendent of Police, in a statement she issued in Ilorin on Wednesday and made available to Team@orientactualmags.com, clarified and explained that no firearms were discharged during the incident while noting that the confrontation was a severe traffic accident that left a police officer with critical injuries.
Cops were according to her conducting routine patrol and stop-and-search duties around Oyun Bridge when a 23-year-old motorcyclist, Abdurasaq Lukman, who was riding at high speed violently knocked down Corporal Saka Azeez which left the cop in question with serious head injuries and a bone fracture.
The motorcyclist, Abdulrazaq Lukman, also sustained minor injuries from the crash and the two of them were rushed to a health facility for medical attention.
While Lukman has been treated and discharged from the hospital, and taken into custody to assist the law enforcement agency with ongoing investigations into the incident, Corporal Azeez remains hospitalized, awaiting further medical examinations and scans to determine the full extent of his head trauma.
Head of Kwara State police command, Mr Ojo Adekimi, a Commissioner of Police, urged members of the public to exercise caution and refrain from spreading unverified information while noting that the state police Command appreciates the vigilance on the part of members of the public regarding police conduct,
