In 2-1 Decision, Tribunal Annuls Gov Abdulahi Sule’s Victory, Declares PDP Candidate Winner Of 2023 Nasarawa Guber Election

Mr. David Ombugadu , who was the  PDP candidate in the gubernatorial election held in Nasarawa state  on  March 18, 2023 ,  has been declared winner of the election in question.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)  had  on March 20, 2023 ,  announced Governor Abdulahi  Sule of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)  as  winner of the  said governorship election.

Governor Abdulahi  Sule

Abdulahi had according to the electoral umpire gotten 347,209 votes while  Mr. Ombugadu had  283,016 votes.

Abdulahi, who had become the governor of Nasarawa state in 2019, had sought re-election.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal headed by Justice Ezekiel Ajayi has however ruled that Mr. David Ombugadu actually won the 2023 Nasarawa state gubernatorial election and not Governor Abdulahi Sule.

It was gathered that the judgment that was delivered virtually was a 2 to 1 decision with two of the justices agreeing that the election was won by the PDP candidate while only one judge disagreed with such a line of argument.

The tribunal had earlier dismissed the petition filed by the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) governorship candidate, Abdullahi Maidoya seeking to annul Governor Sule’s victory submitting that the petition in question lacks merit-Team@orientactualmags.com
