Jan 5 Resumption Date: Proactive Approach Taken By Police ‘Commendable’, LG Chairmen Should Receive Workers With Open Arms-Osun APC

Osun State APC on Saturday commended the Nigeria Police Force for its proactive approach in respect of maintaining law and order in the State of the Living Spring.

The party noted that the way the police addressed the issue of the planned ‘return-to-work’ by members of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in the state, who have stayed away from work in sympathy with Governor Ademola Adeleke for the past eleven months under Dr. Kehinde Nathaniel Ogungbangbe’s leadership, is commendable.

‘The approach adopted by the police in respect of the issue of the planned return-to-work by the absconded local government workers is a demonstration of professional zeal which is a necessary attribute in a genuine democratic dispensation.

We are not unmindful of the superlative constitutional roles of members of the Nigeria Police Force  and other sister statutory security services who have been keeping peace at the local governments in the state since the reinstatement of the APC council chairmen and councillors by the Court of Appeal on the 10th of February, 2025.

We are not in doubt that the untoward episode which led to the needless gruesome murder of one of the reinstated local government council chairmen, Hon Remi Abass of Irewole Local Government by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) political thugs would be timeously addressed by the ever-vigilant and Eagle-eyed men and officers of the statutory security services.

Our party shall be eternally grateful to the police and the sister security agencies for always upholding the rules of law in performing their duties with verifiable diligence which has been the reason all the local governments across the state have been at peace since 10th February, 2025, on reinstated APC chairmen and councilors’ watch’ the party submitted in a statement issued in Osogbo and made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by its spokesman, Chief Kola Olabisi on Saturday.

While commending the reinstated chairmen and councillors for being resolute in the course of running the affairs of the local governments, the party has urged them to receive the returnee council workers with open arms within the limit of the rules and regulations guiding their engagement. 

‘We are also assuring the good people of Osun State that since the absconded council workers have turned over a new leaf, the development would translate to the rapid development at the grassroots level of government in the state in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
