Kwara APC Guber Candidate Honoured With Chieftaincy Title As Huge Crowds Hail Him At 2026 Gwanara Gani Festival
The 2026 edition of Gani Festival in Gwanara, Baruten Local Government, Kwara State transformed into a massive political carnival on Saturday as thousands of ecstatic supporters rallied behind the state APC governorship candidate, Rt. Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi.
A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com noted that Speaker Salihu Yakubu Danladi, who is popularly called SYD, was greeted by a spontaneous guard of honour as thousands of attendees of the event lined the venue, chanting ‘SYD! SYD!! Ciroma!!!’ in a resounding show of solidarity for his gubernatorial bid.
The statement also noted that the announcement of Speaker Danladi as the new Ciroma of Gwanara during the event has cemented his status as a key traditional stakeholder.
‘For the Kwara Northerners, Speaker Danladi’s candidacy represents a historic opportunity to end a 33-year wait for the senatorial district to occupy the highest office in the state.. His emergence has significantly energized the ruling party and local communities, who view him as a beacon of regional advancement.
Beyond the political momentum, the day marked a significant cultural milestone for the lawmaker. The Emir of Gwanara, His Royal Highness Alh. (Dr.) Sabi Idris Abdullahi OFR (Kotokotogi II), officially announced Speaker Danladi as the new Ciroma of Gwanara, cementing his status as a key traditional stakeholder.
The honor reflects Danladi’s impactful seven years as head of the state parliament during which he spearheaded vital legislations including the Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP). His leadership also facilitated critical infrastructure projects in Baruten LGA, including the completion of the 33km Ilesha-Baruba-Gwanara road, alongside extensive renovations of local schools and primary healthcare centers.
