Kwara Govt Explains Delay In Payment Of Salary, Bonus To Some Workers

Civil servants in Kwara State have been paid their salary for the month of November while some among them are still receiving credit alerts except those who are yet to complete their registration with the Kwara State Resident Registration Agency (KWSRRA) as earlier instructed, the state Ministry of Finance submitted in a statement on Monday.

Recall that the State Government had noted in a statement issued in Ilorin on November 11, 2024, that public sector workers in the state who do not have valid KWSRRA numbers will not receive salary or ‘bonus payment’ from November 2024, adding that ‘this exercise had started many months ago’.

The state government noted on Monday that every worker had been given more than six months window to do this.

Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Hauwa Nuru in a statement she issued in Ilorin and made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Monday, urged workers in the state who have not received credit alerts to visit the nearest KWSRRA office to resolve any pending issues.

‘The state government has since started disbursing the salary for the month of November, and many workers have received this across MDAs. The bonus will follow shortly after as it was done before.

Being the first since KWSRRA registration is implemented, the disbursement is done in batches as government carefully inputs updated data and biometric of each worker to the payroll. This exercise is to encourage data-driven planning and resource allocation, strengthen the integrity of the payroll, deepen efficiency and public accountability, and promote public safety.

State workers who do not see theirs may need to visit the nearest KWSRRA offices for registration . This is in the interest of everyone’ she said.

The statement also noted that local government workers and SUBEB teachers are already being paid in like manner after KWSRRA clearance.

‘The directive requiring all state employees, including those in the 16 local governments, to register with the KWSRRA is a strategic step toward improving accountability and service delivery. This registration has been open for over six months, allowing sufficient time for compliance.

The government remains committed to the culture of prompt payment of salary for which the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq administration is known’ the statement added-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
