KWIRS: Muritala Awodun Denies Allegations Of Misconduct, Clarifies Connections With CSDC

Pioneer Chairman of the Kwara state Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS), Professor Muritala Awodun, has issued a strong denial of misconduct during his headship of the revenue agency.

 Awodun had been alleged to be the owner of  CSDC Consulting Enterprise Solutions which had also allegedly handled   multibillion naira consultancy contract  for KWIRS while he was serving as the Chairman of the revenue agency.

In a statement made available to  Team@orientactualmags.com , Awodun however described the allegations as politics-infused  and untrue while clarifying and asserting that he is neither the owner or a co-owner of  CSDC.

‘The records of companies and their ownership in Nigeria are publicly available on the website of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and I have never in any way been the owner, a shareholder or a director of the company in question’ he said.

The former KWIRS chief, who added that  he is currently a staff of the  CSDC , noted however that while there was nothing unusual or wrong about this , it was an established fact that he laid a solid foundation for the future success of the revenue agency .

‘For the avoidance of doubts, having left KWIRS, almost four years now, and having been taken to the EFCC by the present government, there could be no better way to investigate this than that, unless the government is doubting the investigative capacity of the EFCC.

 Having completed  my  tenure successfully on September 30, 2019  I became free from public service and free to be engaged by any firm, so getting engaged by the CSDC Systems Solutions Limited as a Chief Operating Officer (Chief Revenue Consultant) after my  tenure , is an exercise of  my freedom, and in recognition of  my expertise and capacity.

For the record,   I  was not only open and transparent  with regard to the  running of the Service during my tenure, but also devoted the four years to building an enduring institution for Kwara State.

I  was an advocate of capacity and institution building, as  I  not only demonstrated this  by building KWIRS from the scratch, but also ensured it was established on best global practices that earned the organization international certification on its processes.

 This is irrespective of the persistent growth in revenue during the four-year period (moving the revenue of the state from N7.2billion in 2015 to N30.1billion in 2019). What  I  achieved with KWIRS during my period there, is an experience that no one can take away from me, and my experience and expertise would always be sought after by states and organizations that requires it.

It is simply a matter of when you do it well, you will do well, irrespective of what your detractors may say. For four years, what I  did is out there in the public domain for all to see’ he submitted- Team@orientactualmags.com
