LG Primary Elections: Kwara APC Has Made A Mockery Of Democracy-PDP

Kwara state PDP has alleged that  the primary elections organized by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to produce candidates for the  local government elections scheduled to hold in the state on September 21 was  nothing short of a charade and an affront to democratic principles.

 ‘Under  Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s leadership, the APC has orchestrated one of the worst displays of electoral fraud in the history of our state’  Kwara state PDP submitted in a statement that was made available to Team@orientactualmags.com  by  its Publicity Secretary , Mr Olusegun Olusola Adewara on Wednesday.

The party  accused the state  APC and Governor Abdulrahman  AbdulRazaq of  elevating fraud over political integrity while also describing  the APC primary elections  as a normalization of anomalies where all principles of democracy were allegedly mocked in every sense.

The PDP also urged Alhaji Samari and all those tasked with conducting the APC primary elections to fast and pray for 7 days noting that doing this will ensure thorough spiritual cleansing of their sins against democracy.

‘It is noteworthy that the primary elections were fraught with confusion. Initially, the APC announced a consensus mode, ordering all aspirants to refrain from talking or complaining about whoever the governor chooses to impose on the party.

In an attempt to copycat the fantastic primaries conducted by the PDP across the state, the APC stage-managed primary elections to deceive its members, who were unaware that the results had been predetermined.

It is unfortunate to see the Otoge advocates of 2019, who deceived Kwarans into believing that they hated the Saraki leadership due to what they termed ‘mi fun e’ (Imposition of candidates), now surrendering under the most condemnable political fraud in Kwara’s history which can be described as ‘mi gba e’  (Duping/Robbing of candidates), as demonstrated by Governor Abdulrahman and the APC.

It is quite unfortunate that those who criticized past administrations for lesser wrongs are now silent on this evil and are even celebrating it because they have been boxed into tight corners.

For instance, in Oke Ero Local Government, where APC claimed to have organized direct primaries, three aspirants contested for the chairmanship positions with their scores presented as:

Olusona Bunmi (2,814 votes),

Babatunde Taiye (2,319 votes), and

Fadipe James (932 votes).

Even though these figures were fabricated without any actual voting, the APC had gone overboard by declaring Fadipe James, the man with the least votes among the three of them as the winner of its primary election.

Similar irregularities occurred in Ilorin South, particularly in Akanbi Ward 3, where an aspirant with the least votes was declared the winner over those who genuinely won the election.

The situation in Kwara North was even worse, with KWASIEC reportedly adjusting its timetable just to accommodate certain individuals linked to the Speaker of the Kwara House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi, whom the commission waited for until they returned from the Hajj pilgrimage. This is a very sad turn of events in Kwara, happening under the government of the celebrated Otoge advocates.

We call on Alhaji Samari and his committee members, who organized this flawed exercise, to undertake seven days of fasting and prayer for spiritual reflection and atonement for their actions against Kwara and the principles of democracy.

It is most regrettable to witness Otoge advocates who once decried imposition of candidates now embrace the most condemnable political fraud in Kwara’s history. If the APC cannot conduct a free, fair, transparent, and credible primary election for its members, how will it  handle things as the ruling party in the September 21 local government elections ?

Our party, therefore, calls on all victims of APC/Governor Abdulrahman robberies to immediately seek political asylum in PDP, a party that has shown leadership in all respects and is ready to accept them with all sense of enthusiasm.

The Kwara PDP stands firm in our genuine democratic principles and urges all well-meaning Kwarans to reject the idea of making  mockery of democracy by dusting their PVCs for the forthcoming local government elections and getting  fully ready to stamp out the party that has stagnated the state for the past five years, bringing untold hardship and killings of people’s means of livelihoods with unreasonable demolitions of shops and business centers across the state capital’ the party submitted-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
