Main Suspect In Murder Of  Abeokuta Couple, Son Says He Felt Offended Coz Salary Increase Request Was Denied

Lekan Adekanbi, who organized and planned the gruesome murder of Kehinde and Bukola Fatinoye and their only son, Oreoluwa Fatinoye in Abeokuta, Ogun state  on  January 1 2023,  has disclosed that he  felt offended after the couple refused to grant his request for a pay raise and  therefore decided to  punish them.

Arson had been suspected in the early morning house fire that had claimed the lives of  Kehinde and Bukola Fatinoye in Abeokuta, Ogun state capital, last month.

Bukola , a staff of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) and Kehinde, a CBN official, had returned to their residence in Ibara GRA, Abeokuta  after attending the Cross over Service oblivious of the sword of Damocles hanging over their head..

Fishermen also found the decomposing body of their son, Oreoluwa floating two days later.

Team@orientactualmags.com   learned Adekanbi and the two other suspects    had  trailed the couple from the church where they had gone to attend  the crossover service and after killing them, they set their corpses and the house ablaze.

A few days after the incident, the police arrested Lekan Adekanbi and said he was  the prime suspect in the murder case.

The  family’s adopted son, Felix , who  had escaped death,  had also identified Adekanbi as one of those who attacked and killed the couple   when he was  invited  by the police to identify the corpse of Oreoluwa at  the river bank.

Adekanbi, who was said to be Mr Fatinoye’s  driver , later escaped from the police custody, he was however declared wanted and rearrested.

The main suspect  while being shown to the public along with two others at the Ogun state police headquarters, Abeokuta  on Friday, told journalists that he decided to kill the couple because they had refused to grant his request for a pay raise.

‘I took the step because the couple refused to increase my salary, and when I approached them for a loan to buy a motorcycle, they were not forthcoming.

Since all these failed, I gave the deceased my Access Bank account to which the sum of N1,102,000 (One million one hundred and two thousand naira ) was transferred at gunpoint.

When I realized that my identity had been known through my bank account, I decided with others to kill the couple. That was when Waheed Adeniyi a.k.a Koffi took a knife from their kitchen and slaughtered the husband, Kehinde Fatinoye, while I used sledge hammer to hit the wife, Bukola Fatinoye, in the head and she died on the spot’  he said.

‘In the course of the investigation, Lekan Adekanbi, the family’s driver, was arrested based on circumstantial evidence while the investigation continues.

The suspect, Lekan Adekanbi suddenly collapsed in the cell on the 2nd of January 2023 and he was rushed to the hospital for medical care.

But while in the hospital receiving treatment, he suddenly jumped from the bed and escaped through the fence of the hospital.

His escape further confirmed the suspicions of his involvement, through the intelligence-driven investigation by the Commissioner of Police, he ordered the State anti-kidnapping unit to join forces with the homicide unit in order to get the escaped driver and his accomplices arrested.

The two teams, in compliance with the CP’s directive, embarked on a technical and intelligence-driven investigation and traced the movement of the suspect to his elder brother in Iseyin, Oyo State but he had left the place before the arrival of the police.

The teams further intensified their efforts which yielded positive results and he was apprehended at his hideout somewhere in Abeokuta on the 21st of January 2023.

Waheed Adeniyi a.k.a Koffi and Ahmed Odetola a.k.a Akamo were apprehended at Ogere on Thursday 9th of February 2023.

The three suspects who are members of Aiye confraternity have all confessed to their various roles in the gruesome and callous murder of the family’ Spokesman for the police in Ogun state,  Abimbola Oyeyemi,  also submitted- Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
