NCS: Kwara Area Command Announces 9 Seizures, Hands Over Seized Marijuana Worth N4.9m To NDLEA In Ilorin
The Controller, Kwara Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NSC), Mr Najeem Akanmu Ogundeyi asserted on Thursday that the Area Command recorded a huge success in respect of revenue generation between March and May 2026 with 9 seizures that has N204 million as its total duty paid value (DPV).
The goods were according to him seized at different locations in the state including Bukuro axis, Gurumi and Sikira axis, Okuta axis, Boriya axis, Tewu and Bero axis, Sango and Okeoyi road, Alapa axis, Malete and Bani axis, Offa and Idofian road, Lagos Ilorin express way and Eiyenkorin axis.
Mr Najeem Ogundeyi, who disclosed this during the press conference he presided over at the headquarters of the command on Thursday which was attended by journalists including Team@orientactualmags.com, also urged members of the public, especially those in the border communities to support ‘our efforts’ by providing timely and credible information while noting that such a cooperation will help to sustain the successes recorded so far.



‘Between March 2026 and today, the Area Command has successfully carried out a series of interceptions across the key smuggling flashpoint within Kwara State and adjourning areas. These locations include; Bukuro axis, Gurumi and Sikira axis, Okuta axis, Boriya axis, Tewu and Bero axis, Sango and Okeoyi road, Alapa axis, Malete and Bani axis, Offa and Idofian road, Lagos Ilorin express way and Eiyenkorin axis.
These areas have remained under close watch due to their strategic use by smugglers attempting illegal trade and smuggling of goods both in and out of the country.
Permit me to highlight some of the notable interceptions recorded during the period under review.
One Hundred and Fifty-Five Bags of foreign parboiled rice 50kg each with duty paid value (DPV) of Fifty-Two Million, Four Hundred and Forty-Seven Thousand, Five Hundred Naira zero kobo (#52,447,500.00)
Seventy Pieces of Secondhand tyres with duty paid value (DPV) of One Million, Four Hundred Thousand and zero kobo (#1,400,000.00).
Four Hundred and Eighteen Jerry cans of vegetable oil with duty paid value (DPV) of Twenty-Seven Million, One Hundred and Seventy Thousand Naira, zero kobo (#27,170,000.00).
Three Thousand Six Hundred and Ninety-Seven packages of Macaroni pasta with duty paid value (DPV) of One Hundred and Ten Million, Nine Hundred and Ten Thousand Naira, zero kobo (#110,910,000.00).
Two Hundred and Thirty-Seven jerry cans of Premium motor spirit of 25 litres each, totaling Five Thousand Nine Hundred and Twenty-Five Litres with duty paid value (DPV) of Two Million, Three Hundred and Seventy Thousand (#2,370,000.00).
49.5KG of Cannabis with Duty paid value (DPV) of Four Million and Nine Thousand, Five Hundred Naira, zero Kobo (#4,009,500.00).
Three Hundred and Seventy-Six Kilo gramme 376KG Tramadol with duty paid value (DPV) of Five Hundred and Sixty-Four Thousand Naira, zero kobo (#564,000.00).
Nineteen Jerry cans of thirty-Five litres of Corrosive Oxidizer Chemicals with duty paid value (DPV) of Seven Hundred and Ninety-Two Thousand, Four Hundred and Thirty-Nine Naira zero kobo (#792,439.00).
Eighteen 18 Bales of secondhand clothes with duty paid value (DPV) Five Million, One Hundred Thousand Naira, zero kobo (#5,100,000.00).
In summary, between the month of March 2026 and today, customs officers, who are members of the Area Command, have successfully recorded 9 different seizures with total duty paid value (DPV) of Two Hundred and Four Million, Seven Hundred and sixty-Three Thousand, Four Hundred and Thirty-Nine Naira. Mr Najeem Ogundeyi also said the Kwara Area Command will on his watch remain committed to ensuring that those who engage in illegal activities are brought to justice while ‘our national economic interests are also safeguarded at all times’.
In the meanwhile, the 49.5KG of Cannabis and 376KG of Tramadol seized from smugglers have been officially handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kwara State command.



Giving her speech after taking possession of the seized marijuana, CL Fatimo Popoola Abiola, who is the Commandant, Kwara State Command of the NDLEA, praised the enhanced inter-agency synergy while also noting that the security agencies have the shared goal of ensuring that an average Nigerian sleeps with two eyes closed.
Fatimah Abiola, who was represented by Mr K. N Odili, also commended the Kwara Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NSC) for the marijuana seizure saying ‘it is a good job’.
One of the highlights of the media event was the presentation of awards to some among the customs officers for showing dedication to duty.
Mr Najeem Ogundeyi also noted that this is aimed at recognizing and appreciating their unwavering commitment to duties in their areas of responsibilities.
