New Kwara Police Commissioner, Victor Olaiya, Assumes Duty

Mr  Victor Olaiya, a Commissioner of Police, who was named as the new police chief in Kwara state  on September 25, 2023, has assumed duty.

Spokesman for the Kwara state police command, Mr. Ajayi Okasanmi, a Superintendent of Police, who disclosed this in a statement made available to  Team@orientactualmags.com, noted that the new police chief hails from Lagos state.

‘He had his secondary education at CMS Grammar School, Bariga, in Lagos, where he obtained his O-Level Certificate. He is an alumnus of the prestigious University of Lagos where he received Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and Master of Arts (M.A.) degrees in philosophy.

CP Victor Olaiya, psc (+), did his youth service in Ilesha, Osun state.  He was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as a member of Course 3 of the Nigeria Police Academy in 1992 , and he graduated as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police {ASP}.

His first posting was in Imo state, where he cut his teeth as a professional Police Officer, from where he was posted to Staff College, Jos, Plateau state, as a directing staff.

He was also posted to the Inspector-General of Police Secretariat (IGP-SEC), where he proved his mettle as an astute administrator before being moved to the Oyo state Police Command, where he meritoriously served as Divisional Police Officer (DPO) at several police stations, among which were Agugu, Agodi, Sango Divisions, and others. He also served as  officer-in-charge (OC) of the Anti-Robbery and Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the command.

From Oyo state, CP Victor Olaiya was again posted to Zone 12, Zonal Command, Bauchi as the 2ic Operations before his eventual redeployment to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Abuja as a team leader in the General Investigation Section, until his promotion to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police.

He  moved to Benue state Command as  Area Commander,  Gboko.

CP Victor Olaiya, psc (+), while serving as Assistant Commissioner of Police (Admin) in Nassarawa state, he got promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Investment at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, before getting posted to Yobe state as Deputy Commissioner of Police (Admin).

He was promoted to the enviable rank of Commissioner of Police in March 2023. He was thereafter made the CP in charge of INEC headquarters in Abuja, from where he was named as head of  Kwara state Police Command.

CP Victor Olaiya, psc (+), attended many courses within and outside Nigeria. Among the courses attended by CP Victor Olaiya are the following: the Advance Detective Course, CPTU, Junior Command Course (JCC), Intermediate Command Course (ICC), and Strategic Leadership Command Course (SLCC). Community Policing course, Interview and Interrogation Techniques course sponsored by the Canadian government, and Anti-Terrorism Course, Libya, among others

CP Victor Olaiya, psc (+), is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (MNIM) and the International Association of Chiefs of Police (Chicago), USA.

CP Victor Olaiya’s hobbies include driving and reading. He is married with children.

CP Victor Olaiya, psc (+),  is a strong believer in serving God through humanity and an unrepentant defender of the fundamental rights of the citizens’ he said.

The statement also noted that Mr. Victor has declared his total abhorrence of laziness, negligence, and armchair leadership style while addressing the command’s strategic managers.

He was also said to have spoken strongly about his determination to deal ruthlessly with all manner of criminals in the state, regardless of their nomenclature while noting that he is an adherent of the rule of law using the community policing strategy in line with global best practices–Team@orientactualmags.com
