Nigerians To Face Higher Electricity Bills As NERC Raises Price Cap

There will soon be higher electricity bills for households in the country as the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, has approved the raising of the electricity rates for customers in the Band A category.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the Vice Chairman of NERC, Musliu Oseni, who announced this during the press conference he presided over in Abuja, noted that it will henceforth make customers pay N225 per kilowatt-hour instead of the current rate of N66.
‘We currently have 800 feeders that are categorized as Band A, but it will now be reduced to under 500. This means that 17 percent now qualify as Band-A feeders. These feeders only service 15 percent of total electricity customers connected to the feeders.
