Ogun East Senate Seat: APC Stakeholders Formally Presents Gov Abiodun To Party Chairman As ‘Consensus Candidate’
Stakeholders in Ogun East senatorial district on Tuesday formally presented Governor Dapo Abiodun to chairman of the state APC, Chief Yemi Sanusi as the party’s consensus candidate for the upcoming senate election .
The party leaders and stakeholders have described the endorsement as a collective decision aimed at ensuring quality representation and sustaining party unity in the senatorial district.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the event was attended by the party’s consensus gubernatorial candidate, Senator Olamilekan Adeola, former deputy governors; Yetunde Onanuga, Segun Adesegun, and Gbenga Kaka, the state APC Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, Deputy Chairman, Chief James Dina, Chairman of Ogun East Senatorial District, former Senator Lekan Mustapha, and other party bigwigs.
While presenting Governor Abiodun to party leaders and stakeholders in the senatorial district, Mr Segun Adesegun declared that party members across the senatorial district have unanimously endorsed the governor as the APC consensus candidate for Ogun East Senatorial District.
Former Senator Lekan Mustapha also noted that choosing Governor Abiodun as consensus candidate was the collective decision of the people of the senatorial district to ensure effective and quality representation.
He recalled that the Ogun East leaders had during the ‘stakeholder meeting’ held on April 20,2026, unanimously chose Governor Abiodun as consensus candidate while noting that the Tuesday’s gathering was convened to formally communicate the decision to the governor and the party leadership.
Ogun East APC chairman, Dr. Adeleke Ogundoyin later formally handed over the governor to the state APC Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, urging the state leadership to forward his name to the national secretariat of the party as the party’s consensus candidate.
Governor Dapo Abiodun expressed profound appreciation to leaders, stakeholders, and Ogun East Senatorial District’s delegates for the confidence reposed in him, describing the consensus arrangement as a demonstration of unity, political maturity, and shared commitment to the progress of the district and Ogun State.
The governor said he was deeply humbled by the overwhelming support and pledged not to betray the trust and confidence reposed in him by the people and Ogun Est APC leaders.
