A student at Obada Grammar School, Imeko Afon Local Government, Ogun State, Monday Ariyo, has died while being punished for making a joke of the instruction given by a teacher in respect of a wastebasket.
The teacher in question had allegedly asked Ariyo to perform frog jump exercise and also gave him 24 strokes of the lash.
He had done 162 frog jumps before crossing to the great beyond.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that an activist, Adetoun disclosed this in an Instagram post on Friday.
The teacher had reportedly taken a new waste basket to Ariyo’s class and gave an instruction that the students should not break it while the deceased student had jocularly said the wastebasket was bought with their money and this made the teacher feel incensed.
Spokesperson for Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the incident on Friday, said Ariyo was confirmed dead at the Federal Medical Centre , Abeokuta, the state capital.
‘The incident happened on October 15, 2024. The deceased student was asked to do 162 frog jumps and he was given 24 strokes of the lash. He was rushed to FMC Idi-Aba for medical attention, and he died on October 25.
