Osun State House of Assembly has passed a bill seeking a two-year tenure extension for the Vice-Chancellor of Osun State University (UNIOSUN), Professor Clement Adebooye.
Speaker Adewale Egbedun presided over the plenary session held on Thursday and the bill titled ‘State University Establishment Amendment Bill 2026’ has been passed into law by the lawmakers. It will be transmitted to Governor Ademola Adeleke for assent.
Chairman of the House Committee on Education, Mr Sikiru Bajepade, said the bill will provide legislative backing for the extension of tenure for the Vice-Chancellor of UNIOSUN.

The title of the bill was changed from ‘Osun State University Establishment Amendment Law 2026’ to ‘Osun State University Establishment Amendment Bill 2026’ before being passed into law by the House of Assembly.
The House of Assembly later adjourned until Monday, September 7, 2026, following the motion moved by the Deputy Majority Leader which was seconded by Hon. Taofeek Olalekan Olayiwola.
Osun State University (UNIOSUN) which was established in 2006 , had its formal approval and recognition granted by the National Universities Commission (NUC) on December 21, 2006, while academic activities officially began at the multi-campus institution in September 2007-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
