Sardauna Of Ilorin: VP Shettima, Governors, Other Prominent Political Figures To Attend Gov Abdulrazaq’s Tubanning Ceremony In Ilorin Sep 15
An impressive gathering of eminent personalities is expected to descend on the ancient city of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.
The nation’s political figures will be in the city that serves as a central point for travel across the country for the formal turbaning ceremony of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as the Sardauna of Ilorin..
The guest list includes federal ministers, senior presidency officials, state governors, members of both the National and State Assemblies, political party leaders, and diplomats.
Alhaji Bashir Adigun in a statement issued on behalf of the Organizing Committee which was made available to Tea@orientactualmags.com noted that Vice President Kashim Shettima will represent President Bola Tinubu at the event.
The historic ceremony will be presided over by the Emir of Ilorin , who is also the Chairman of Kwara State Council of Chiefs, His Royal Highness, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari.
The event that will hold at the Emir’s palace will start at 10:00 a.m.
The conferment of the prestigious Sardauna chieftaincy title on Governor AbdulRazaq is poised to be a major cultural and traditional milestone, drawing the crème de la crème of Nigerian society and international guests.
The title of Sardauna, which is traditionally associated with exceptional leadership, courage, military command, and statesmanship, stands as one of the most revered and sought-after traditional honours in the Northern Nigeria.
Governor Abdulrazaq’s father, late Alhaji AbdulGaniyu Folorunsho Abdulrazaq (AGF) was the first Mutawali of Ilorin and the first lawyer from Northern Nigeria.
Dr Alimi Abdulrazaq, who is the governor’s elder brother, is the second Mutawali of Ilorin
